@teaandcake:  My husband and I did the same thing, and I also feel like the minority on WB and in real life.

1 – I think Lana Del Ray’s music sounds like Eeyore got a record deal. I call her songs “droopy girl music” whenever my husband turns one on.

2 – White women are often trained to be the handmaidens of the white supremacist capitalist patriarchy and when that gets pointed out, a lot of them expend entirely too much energy fighting with the person/people who mentioned it rather than the system that railroaded them into that pathway.

3 – I think a lot of the sad and infuriating posts where women are anxiously waiting for a ring/proposal/change from a significant other are directly tied to fucked up gender training around “niceness” and not making waves and not being clear about what you want in your life and not cutting people off when they treat you like shit (which many people need to do more aggressively). A lot of the “AITA” posts where bridesmaids are putting up with entitled bridezillas and their “I trapped a mate” mega parties have the same energy, imo.

One of mine: children should not necessarily have their father’s last name or a hyphenated name.  Give them the mother’s last name, and use the father’s last name as a middle name if you must.

Oh boy, I have a really unpopular one: shelter dogs aren’t for everyone. There’s nothing wrong with getting a purebred dog so long as you do your research and chose a reputable breeder that is breeding for the right reasons (to better the breed) and who meets all the strict health standards and guidelines to produce healthy dogs. Also, I would never own a pit of any sort due to my own personal experience. I’ll go hide under my rock now.

@excitedmamatobee:  Can I add to this that a poodle mix of any kind is not a breed?

I love dogs, have four, and I would never own a pit. It’s nothing to do with them specifically, but I won’t take the chance of housing or insurance restrictions since I want to travel and move quite a lot during my lifetime.

@excitedmamatobee:  The issue is that many (most?) people don’t know what an ethical, reputible breeder is. For example, there is no such thing as a proper or recognized Doodle breeder, of any type. Yet many people buy doodles as “purebreds” from “breeders”, and think that because they pay a few thou they arent a backyard breeder. That said, I think the very very very very very very very few breeders that ARE ethical and reputible are really wonderful!

Unpopular opinion: all the extra crap that surrounds a wedding has gotten ridiculous, particularly multi-day destination bachelorette parties. Why should someone spend their vacation time or money to celebrate the fact that *you’re* getting married?  Why make your closest riends have to spend that kind of $?  It’s just everyone else paying to celebrate you.

Gender reveal parties feel like another chance to try to recapture the magic of a wedding. It’s more of the same self-serving mindset: everyone let’s celebrate ME ME ME!

And don’t get me started on social media. What happened to just living your life without an audience? Look, here’s my wonderful expensive bach party/wedding/gender reveal! ! I’m so special!

Maybe I’m just cynical about social media. All it did for me was provide a way for 3 former boyfriends to get in touch with me. Thanks but no thanks; it’s been nice not knowing you. So I don’t do social media anymore. There’s no telling what will crawl out of the woodwork next.

Who dislikes sweet potatoes? Thats crazy. Reasonable people know that you should hate squash. Ew.

@skuzzlebutt:  yes, I agree! Designer dogs are not purebred and there are a lot of shady actors in that arena. I always recommend starting with the AKC and regional breed clubs. And then going to the breeders’ house, researching AKC registrations and titles, finding references, etc. It’s a lot of work to find the good ones but they are out there! ETA: one thing our breeder does that I really like is keep a Facebook group of owners going. It helps us stay in the know with latest research on food, health concerns, etc but it also allows her to follow her dogs so if a pattern emerges with some sort of health issue, she can try to address it in how she breeds moving forward!

@L606:  YESS the MLM’s, I hate those!!

I have sooo many friends on social media doing Herbalife, any form of protein or workout drinks, makeup, essential oils, jewelry, even one in a trading / stock MLM. I’m so sick of hearing the #Blessed or #Family, or “Hey sis, don’t you want to make extra money?! Hey Babe, don’t you want financial independence? Don’t you want free luxurious vacations?” YUCK. No I don’t, thank you. I have my own job making >6 figures and not only don’t have time to care about selling sh*t, I don’t WANT to push my friends into that to make a buck. I think it’s cheap, and you’re selling out / harasssing your friends. I would never use my friendships or social media connections to spam people with sales that benefit me like that.
