I am doing the 30 DS.  I’ve been doing it for about 2 weeks now so I haven’t really noticed any changes yet but it’s tough for sure.  I think it would be best for toning though, diet is the only thing that really helps with weight loss.

I didn’t lose any weight on it, but it definitly makes you hurt and can tone you up.

Can only add:

I did 30 DS and P90X.  30 DS was hard, didn’t do much.  P90X was HARD and I lost 15lbs in 60 days.  And my body looked AMAZING.

I did it twice and it screwed my back up so bad that two months later, I’m still in pain.

I’m not going to lie, I have a lot of problems with the Shred, but here are my main ones:

  1. 20 minutes of exercise a day cannot make most people lose a significant amount of weight.
  2. You really shouldn’t do the exact same workout 10 days in a row.  It isn’t good for your body and it won’t lead to ideal results.
  3. Jillian makes comments like “Don’t you want abs like that?”  I hate to break it to you but you are NEVER going to get abs like that if you’re only doing her 30 day shred.  Do it 5 times a day and you might get abs like that, but not once a day for 30 days.

But, the idea behind it is really good; do cardio and weights at the same time so that your heart rate stays up while lifting thus making you burn more calories.  But, you should be doing this for like an hour, not 20 minutes, if you want real results.

DISCLAIMER: I am 5’8 (or 9 depending on how good or bad my back is that day – no joke {herniated disc}) and about 145 pounds.  I’m usually a size 6, sometimes a 4.  I have a very athletic build.  In order for me to burn fat off of my body, I need a lot more then 20 minutes a day.  If you not in good shape at all, and are looking for a way to start working out, this DVD could be a good start.

Check out super fit bod from amy dixon. I think its better than the shred. 20 min IMO isnt enough time to see actual results. I think a lot of people like to think there is an easy way out when losing weight, when in reality it take a lot of work and dedication. annnnnnd a clean diet 😀

@SoonToBeMrs.Kiss: jillian michaels does have dvds that are good workouts…no more trouble zones is great and is just under an hour including warmup and cool down.  burn fat boost metabolism is good too. but dont do the same workout everyday, try to switch it up as much as possible.

I’ve heard that there’s a new DVD workout series that is supposed to be even more intense than P90X.  It’s called Insanity; I’ve never tried it, but you can watch clips of it on YouTube.  If you’re looking for something really hard-core, you may wanna try it!  Good luck!

@Lorge28: Insanity seems crazy.  I have the DVDs but I haven’t been able to do it because my asthma isn’t really under control.
