I’ve been doing Jillian DVDs since September, I lost about 17 lbs…most at the beginning, then plateauted and now I’m back to losing. Besides her workouts I also supplement with a bootcamp class once a week and running, 30 min 2x/week. I love her workouts and I burn mega calories- I wear my Polar HR monitor. I still have a long way to go with my weight loss and I love Jillian’s longer workouts so I just ordered her new DVD Extreme Shed & Shred and I can’t wait to try them.

Good luck!  I’ve heard really good things about JM.  I own the 30 Day Shred and have started it a bunch of times, but I always get so, so, so bored by day three or four that I quit.  The same routine 10 days in a row, c’mon!  Good idea to alternate with some other things to mix it up!

I did the 30 Day Shred and I didn’t lose a whole bunch of weight, but I toned up some. I’ve just started doing No More trouble Zones and it’s AWESOME. I’ve already seen a difference doing it 3 times a week for about a month now. It’s not for beginners, she doesn’t show alot of modifications, but it really is a great workout.

Her workouts are super effective. I’ve had great results with them over the bast 6 months.  I do them 5-6 days a week, for 30 min-1 hr a day.  I haven’t lost a whole lot of weight (and I wasn’t trying to) but I’ve toned up everywheren and my body fat is way down.  I didn’t change my diet or add any other new form of exercise (but I do a lot of walking during the day, too).

Just stick with it!

I have read some negative reviews of 30-day shred in regards to people experiencing a lot of knee/foot pain after doing them for just a few weeks. Any bad experiences or modifications you did to the videos to avoid this?

@Cornflower: I was getting some serious lower back pain from 30 Day Shred.  It was only from Level 1, and I’m pretty sure it was either because I was doing the squat and press from the first circuit wrong (pressing before I was even standing up) but I think even more so from the side lunges with the raise in circuit 3.  I fixed my squats (so I don’t press until I’m standing up completely, like they do in the video) and for the side lunges I don’t squat back as far anymore.  That’s the only problem I had with 30DS – otherwise, love Jillian and love her workouts.

OP – I definitely noticed a difference doing 30 DS… lots of toning, and I felt great for my August wedding.  I started 30DS 3-4 months before my wedding and didn’t follow it exactly – I did it on my “off” days from other activities such as running or swimming.

@catnip: I had back pain too, but I have a herniated disk so….it’s probably that more than anything. But I agree that proper form is key!

OP, I notice muscle definition in my arms that I never had before! I also lost a couple inches around my waist while doing the 30 Day Shred. I never made it past Level 2 but I still do the moves when I go the gym in between cardio sessions.

I did her 30 day shred. I didn’t stick to it strictly or diet. So I didn’t lose a lot of weight, but I was looking to tone up. I felt like it definitely toned me up and trimeed off some fat since my jeans got to be really big on me.

I’ve noticed the biggest difference in my arms and legs, they definitely look more toned. As for my beer gut…ahhh, not so much. I went through the 30 Day Shred with the diet plan and now I’m doing the shred followed by 30 min to an hour on the treadmill and then every other day a workout plan my Fiance wrote for me (he is a college wrestler). As for the numbers on the scale, I’ve only lost 5 pounds, but I am a pretty small framed girl and it’s always been hard for me to lose. We’ll see how much I can do by May.

@morkiemama: I did it pretty consistently for a long time a few months back (I’ve slacked off a bit) however, just keep going! It seriously gets easier, every day seems to get easier and you hurt less!

I LOVE her workouts. I’m actually hoping to start up again soon… I’m just kind of waiting for the holidays to be over!
