- Wedding: November 1999
I was laid off from my previous job 7 1/2 months ago. I am getting unemployment and was just approved for an extension. They called me back 2 weeks before the wedding to begin working again on Monday.
The issue is that I used to get childcare assistance since I was a single mom with 2 kids in childcare. I would have to reapply for childcare and get put on a waiting list and may not even qualify for it once I get married.
I make $10 an hour. The job is part time and I get 25 hours a week. Job is about 22 miles each way from my house. So I would gross $250 a week. Child care is $50 a day when I don’t get assistance. So I would be working entirely for childcare and then have to spend the money for gas and expenses to get to work.
If I turn it down, I lose unemployment. Which is about $672 a month. I have been searching for a full time job or at least a part time job in my town so there isn’t the expenses of travel. My mom said she would be willing to try to watch them a few times a week only until CCIS starts. She won’t do it in the winter either and doesn’t want to do it long term.
What would you do?
