@Eva Peron:  Yup still applying for government stuff, hence the ridiculous wait time!

@annasaf83:  Way to go! Good luck with your interview!

I have an update as well.

I have an interview Friday for a company I’ve interviewed with for 3 other positions. I’m hoping 4th time is the charm? I’m not sure if they keep bringing me back in because they like me, or because a family friend who is higher up in the company referred me.

Who knows but it’s the first interview I’ve had in about a month!

@Eva Peron:  It’s a different one. It’s one I liked in December and really thought I was going to get a job with in December. But then they promoted internally instead after having me go through 3 rounds of interviews for 2 of the 3 positions.

I’m still waiting to hear back about another possible position at the company I really loved.

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that I was unemployed for about a year and a half after graduating college.  It was TERRIBLE.  I was kind of in a dark place for awhile.  I think all of you are so brave in continuing to search for lucrative employment.  It is not easy to keep putting yourself out there after hearing numerous rejections.

I really disliked it at the time when people tried to give me advice- most of them had no idea what I was going through.  I was fortunate to have such supportive and encouraging family and friends.  If I could say anything to you all, it’s to KEEP SENDING IN APPLICATIONS.  Although I might have taken a day or two off at certain points, I searched for jobs like it was a job.  Also, try to do something to keep your resume fresh.  I took some language classes that ended up helping me get the job I have now.  You’ve probably heard this before, but it’s true.

Don’t neglect your hobbies or your well-being- hang out with friends, go running, etc.  It really does get better!  I wish you all the best.

@Pearberry:  Thanks for those words.

I’m trying to keep on the job application train.

I’m on round 4 of my job application spreadsheet since October. I have applied to over 100 positions.

Each day I look there are fewer and fewer jobs out there. It is just *SO* disheartening sometimes.

@KatNYC2011:  Ah shame about the GMAT, I was hoping you’d be able to avoid that. Stupid standardized testing! I hope it works out for you to go to business school in London. International experience will be huge on your resume/CV, whether you stay in London or not. Will you still go if you get the job you’re interviewing for?

I have an update. I received an offer from one of my leads last night to start in late May (we’ll call it Job A). I interviewed for Job A in early March but I never heard back so I assumed I didn’t get the job. They randomly contacted me about a week ago for references. Job B is the one I mentioned before that I’ve been interviewing with non-stop since the end of March. Job B has really made me jump through the hoops (6 rounds so far) and I’m scheduled to give an online presentation of the product next Wed with a decision to be made by the next day.

Job A is offering more money but no benefits. Job B less money but amazing benefits. I’m going to have to relocate for both so that doesn’t play a factor. I really prefer Job B over Job A overall but they haven’t made an offer yet. Do I take the firm offer from Job A or do I wait until the end of next week for the presumed offer from Job B? I’m so nervous about turning down a firm offer for a maybe offer but I’m not sure if I can hold off telling Job A for almost 2 weeks. I don’t know what I’m going to do.

@gnarlygnome:  First I’d see how much time Job A can offer you to decide.

After you know that, contact the person at Job B and let them know you have another offer on the table.

Tell them you are really interested in the job and would love the opportunity but Job A needs a decision by x date.

Ask if they can move up your next round as well as give you an indication of whether this is the last round or not.
