ugh I feel so upset right now πŸ™  (I am beginning to feel that recruiters are sadistic!!! (Apologies if there are any on here!)

So after speaking to the agency on Friday afternoon about this job over in the new area and her telling me that she and the agency had no problems doing skype interviews etc etc  she arranged a video interview with the agency today and they get on there and tell me that there is NO way that I will get a job over there unless I am there as NO employer will hire me when I am so far away and they have people in the local area… I am beginning to think that Fiance and I made a horrible mistake in him taking this job over there even though I know that he would not have found work here any time soon.. but it feels like we will forever be in a LDR…which I do not want to be in when we are married so I feel like talking to him about cancelling the wedding at this time until we can make some other arrangements…  ok vent over… πŸ™

@Eva Peron:  Not a problem explaining πŸ™‚  My Fiance was laid off a few months ago very unexpected and was out of work for a couple of months of course causing yet more financial strain when the only job that he could find was clear across the country and has in truth with having to purchase an extra vehicle etc cost us approx $15k from savings that we really did not expect to be using… however, it was that or have him out of work for who knows how long so we opted to get him back to work.

I actually relocated to where I currently am from another state and never experienced what I am now which I think is partly why I am getting so frustrated with this now… I am just very wary of giving up a very good position to move across country and then have to survive off just his salary which while he is training for 6 months is less.. to have no guarentee of finding anything out there.  I feel stuck between a rock and a hard place right now.  I think I just get so annoyed with agencies wasting my time instead of just saying they don’t deal with those in my situation…

By The Way LOVE your new avatar – She is my hero πŸ™‚

@Eva Peron:  Yes I am in a sticky situation it seems and no apprent solution right now… πŸ™  However, I sent an email to the CEO of the employment agency this morning telling him in a VERY professional manner of course about the lack of expertise in his company! LOL  well at least it made me feel better to get it off my chest and let it go!!

I LOVEEEEEE Game of Thrones too….and as I have always had a love for Dragons I was SOLD when she walked back with her ‘babies’ πŸ™‚   I even managed to get my Fiance interested in the series too πŸ™‚

Thank you wedding bee for wasting my time by writing an entire reply and instead of recognizing a reply you thought I had not and deleted what I wrote!!!! Wow! lol   Here goes again!!

@Eva Peron  Yes I am all for telling people about ‘Wasting my time’ in the nicest possible way of course!! lol I’m sure I will not get a reply but sometimes the boss is the last person to know just how the company is really working!

Have you read the books of GOT?? My old boss who is a HUGE lover of the series (and who tried her best to get me to have a GOT theme wedding after she learnt we are having it at a castle!!  LOL) bought me the book set as a leaving present a year ago and I have yet to read them!! Yikes..  Although I learnt soooo much more from watching season 1 again with my Fiance as he had not seen it before the start of season 2.. and yes I still was hoping for a different ending for Ned!! LOL

@Eva Peron:  I’m not sure I could trust my Fiance if he opted to have a sword!!!! LOL  Now if I could just find some Dragons….maybeeeee πŸ™‚

Oh and out of the blue I got 2 calls for interviews, which I did both today!! and both of them are open to the situation in (or so they say!!!) so fingers crossed I get some call backs from them πŸ™‚

@Angkinah:

Been there. It is so annoying. I lost out on three interviews in one week because the employers never checked the messages I left for them as to when I could come in for an interview. (Was working full time and getting home at 5 pm to messages on the answering machine.)

1. Where are you located ? ( can be very broad or specific)

Pacific NorthWest, less than an hour drive from Seattle

2. How long have you been looking for work?

Been out of work since Dec 2010 due to health issues, but only seriously looking for work the past 3 months.

3. What is your background in? (education, work experience, etc)

Retail work, with a few college classes under my belt but nothing close to a degree. So difficult without more education to transfer to much anything else but more retail.

4. What kind of work have you been applying to?

Receptionist and medical receptionist positions to utilize my medical terminology background, along with a few banks because of my retail/sales experience.

Actually have a 2nd interview for a bank teller position tomorrow. Just looking for something relatively not stressful to help put money in savings until I can go to Dental Assistant school this Spring.

5. What is the worst job you have ever had?

Worked at a Target for 1 day lol. Quickly learned grocery store work is not for me so I didn’t waste anymore time with it.

6. Dream job?

Special Education Teacher. Sadly job prospects are really really bad in this area right now though, so I don’t forsee it ever happening πŸ™

Instead I plan to start school this spring for Dental Assisting. Really excited to still be making a difference. The medical side of it also facinates me, and being able to give confidence to people is pretty cool too.

7. Tips for keeping your sanity?!

I have zero… My sanity was lost long ago after so much rejection lol. Hoping this 2nd interview tomorrow goes well though so I can become a teller and move on to preping for school!

Tired of feeling like a crazy lady with how often I check my email for any news on jobs I have applied for.

I thought I would update here, since I posted a few months ago.  I was offered my dream job, and started about 6 weeks ago.  The position is in implementation trial research for reproductive health intervention.  Basically, I am working on a trial of a reproductive health intervention in East Efrica, trying to measure the impact.  Its going to be a bit of a long commute between East Africa and the West Coast of the U.S..  But I have already been once, and I love it, I will spend about a month there and two months here for the next few years.

I got a response. I have been provisionally accepted to the interview process, based on references that I have provided them with to follow up on.

I just found this thread and thought I should introduce myself!!

1. Where are you located ? ( can be very broad or specific)

Boston Area

2. How long have you been looking for work?

Since October 2011

3. What is your background in? (education, work experience, etc)

I have an MS in Polticial Science and a Master of Public Administration- my work experience is mainly administrative

4. What kind of work have you been applying to?

Pretty much anything and everything at this point, but focusing on policy analysis and non-profit work

5. What is the worst job you have ever had?

I’ve never had an absolutely terrible job. The position I was laid off from in october had great people, but I hated the work (it was a receptionist position)

6. Dream job?

Intelligence or national security policy analyst. I have a storng background for it, but unfortunately there’s not a big market for these positions in the Boston area!

7. Tips for keeping your sanity?!

I wish I had some for others. Honestly, the only thing that keeps me sane is support from my Fiance, and friends and family. Their support and belief that I will find the perfect position for me is the only thing that keeps me from breaking down during some difficult periods of a long job search…
