The almonds represent happiness, health, wealth, fertility, and a long life

I fully support the idea of “health, wealth, longevity, happiness, and maybe a cat.”  This adjustment would entertain me enough as a guest to make up for the fact that I don’t like jordan almonds.

I don’t understand why you would choose a favor that you have to twist yourself into knots to get it to agree with who you are. Just choose something else.

ladyspectrum :  Since you are getting married, isn’t the wish for happiness already granted too? Each wish is a constant, not just a one time thing.

I’m going to go ahead and vote to ditch the Jordan almonds and pick a favor that is more reflective of you and your partner and doesn’t cause you so much stress.  Or at least tastes good! 😊

ladyspectrum :  we kind of have this tradition in my country too but people sub out the almonds with pretty much anything and don’t include the poem the no can also vary as long as it’s an uneven no. I used chocolate ladybirds as I had a country themed wedding. You can put whatever you like in those little bags as a favor if it makes you feel more relaxed. The honey buns sound a bit difficult to pull off but maybe pick some other candy that represents you as a couple?

You’re being way too literal. You can have the almonds symbolize anything you choose or nothing at all.

As for “family,” your husband to be absolutely will be family to you. Likewise you can wish for your extended family to always be close and healthy, a source of support, happiness and comfort.

In my culture you are supposed to put an odd number of almonds in the favor so as to represent how the couple cannot be divided.

ladyspectrum :  i like the humorous approach with cats. Also saying family is good. You and your spouse are becoming a family regardless of future children.  You will be each other’s closest family.

ladyspectrum :  My husband and I are in our fifties and definitely not going to have kids. We changed the word ‘children’ to ‘cats’. 😂

An asian bakery should be able to do something like you’re asking for with the honey buns, i think those are super cute.   Do you have a Chinatown close by? You could check Etsy also, though you may have to figure out what they’re actually called.
