So I was talking to my mom last night about wedding favors. I’m 100% Italian and Fiance is 50% Italian, so there’s going to be a lot of Italian traditions at our wedding. My mom really wants to do Jordan Almonds (also referred to as sugared almonds) as the wedding favor since it’s an Italian tradition. My sister had them at her wedding, so I guess my mom kind of expected me to want to have them at mine. The only thing is, I HATE JORDAN ALMONDS. Like I think they’re the grossest candy ever (if you can even call it a candy).
Well, it occurred to me that I might be one of the few who detest these sugar nuts. So my question: Do you like Jordan Almonds? I’m assuming if you say ‘yes’ you would like them as a favor, and if you say ‘no’ you would hate them as a favor. If I’m wrong in that assumption, please comment below! I’m interested in hearing any and all opinions!

I LOVE them, so yes I would like them as a favor. That being said, I don’t think I would have a favor at my wedding if I didn’t like it myself. If you hate them then I say find another option. What about Perugina Baci chocolates?

My FH’s grandma used to give him and his brother sugared almonds and pretend they were chocolate eggs as a prank, then laugh when they tried to bite into them and found they were solid. So he’s not super in favour of them.
Also, I really really hate nuts, so I would not be for them AT ALL.

I used them as part of our favors when we got married 9 years ago. TBH I think it’s gotten to be kind of a dated/traditional wedding tradition to give Jordan almonds; that said I TOTALLY love to eat them and would love to munch some as a wedding guest. 🙂 I voted Yes!

Fiance and I absolutely adore them, and actually purchase them as a treat from time to time. That said, a LOT of our friends don’t like them, so we’re thinking of not giving them out.

Ugh. No. I mean, I’d take them, and possibly eat them at some sort of 4am sugar emergency, but I’m not a fan.
Also, nut allergies are always a concern. I’m not sure if people have almond allergies, but still something to consider…

I love them but Fi hates them with a passion, it’s quite funny. In fact, it was one of his first thoughts about the wedding ‘We are NOT having sugared almonds!’.
I think they really do split people. Why gift them something half the people will leave? I think if it’s the tradition, still present 5 sweets. I think they represent Love, Fidelity etc etc

Im italian and my god I think they are gross, I never understood it at all…and that scene in “bridesmaids” just through me over the edge, neverrrrr

@futuremrsgo: Oh, I think they are just awful. I love candy, and I wouldn’t eat those if you paid me. I am always so sad to see those things as wedding favours 🙁 I’d rather have nothing, lol.

I’m half-Italian, but I can’t stand Jordan Almonds, lol.

I say you have to do them, because of the Italian thing. I’m marrying a Sicilian and we’ve pretty much been told we have to do them!
That said, we’re not putting them on the table. We’re going to have them handed out from a basket when we leave.
We’re not doing any other favours, though, because we’ve got the photo booth and glow sticks and no one gives a toss about favours, really, so we’re saving the extra £100 or so!
ETA: Are they actually supposed to be eaten? I heard they are for keeping… (although why anyone would keep a bag of nuts for years is beyond me).

I always hated them thought they were so cheesy. So no vote for me.

Meh. I wouldn’t love or hate them. I’m not sure I’d eat them but I like the way they feel. Is that weird? I’ll answer my own question with a giant yes.

I broke my tooth on one when I was little and never quite got over it, so I say no!
