Suicide is a horrible act in its self but to take another life especially the mother of YOUR child is unreal to me. Honestly its such a horrible hit to the team but think about those who witnessed it. He really has mentally disturbed many many people around him. What can be done to stop incidents like this? Do you believe he needed mental counseling or he was attempting to escape justice and ridicule from the world?

@babypearls: I think that we can only guess why he acted in the way he did. It’s possible he was depressed or had some sort of mental disorder. Maybe he couldn’t handle the pressure of the career he chose.
I am really not sure how to prevent situations such as these. Sometimes warning signs aren’t there. Maybe he just snapped and felt too guilty not to take his own life. Sad situation all around.

No one knows why people choose the murder suicide route. I’m guessing they were on the verge of a breakup and he figured if he couldn’t be with her, no one would.
I have learned, you can’t stop one person. You can try and stop a group, but you can’t stop one person once they make up their mind to do something like this.

I read an article about it that didn’t say what happened to the baby… Does anyone know?

Sorry I didn’t contribute more… The whole thing is really sad and I can only imagine what the families are going through.

I actually graduated highschool with Jovan…very sweet and calm guy, shocked to hear about what happened and cant begin to understand how or why this happened, but to answer your question the baby is with the grandmother now.

Fiance and I were discussing whether past, untreated head injuries played a part in this tragedy. It’s been a hot topic in football the past few years, and it’s really scary what some retired players have experienced. That being said, he was so very young. He was a linebacker, so that ups the incidences of big hits affecting his head. I dunno. Just a thought.
Sadly I don’t think there’s a way to prevent situations like this. Like a PP said, sometimes there are warning signs, but sometimes there really aren’t. In the case of the murder part of the equation, it isn’t always obvious who is capable of such an action. The whole thing is just so heartbreaking with the 3month old left behind and all of the witnesses to the violence.

Sadly, we only know about this because he played in the NFL. This happens every day somehere but we never hear about those incidents. 🙁
