The Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses we have chosen do not come in jr sizes. I am having my fiances niece who will be 10 years old as my jr bridesmaid and Iwant to be sure she is in an age appropriate dress. I was going to just have her order the smallest size available and alter it to fit,but then decided that’s extreme and I don’t want her parents to have to deal with that (even though her gma would be doing it for free). I then thought of the idea of having her in a complimenting color that is different from the bm dresses. The bm will be in jcrew dusty shale and I was thinking of having my jr in a champagne color. The flower girls will be in ivory possibly with a champagne accent on a sash or something to tie it all together.
Do you think it would look odd not having her in the same color as the other bridesmaids?

My JB will be wearing a different color. Not quit sure what color yet though but something lighter than the black my Bridesmaid or Best Man are wearing.

@NurseMandie: Thanks for the comment! I have seen a few other bees say they are doing this as well. I am glad to hear that because I wasnt 100% sure how it would look.

I think different style, same colour. Then there’s a uniformity. Not just that but the JrBM feels “grown up” rather than singled out as a child.
ETA this is what happened when I was a JrBM aged 12. I would have been super embarrassed to wear a different colour at that age.

My junior bridesmaids wore a different color than the bridesmaids. Actually, eveyone wore different dresses. The bridesmaids wore all different jcrew dresses in the same yellow and the two junior bridesmaids wore two different david’s bridal dresses in the same color. Here’s a picture of some of the bridesmaids so you can see how it looked. Hope that helps!

when i was a jr Bridesmaid or Best Man the dresses were all floor lenth empire waist chifon dress with a really deep V they just added a piece of fabric (they took out when altering it to fit) in the clevage area to make it age apropriate ^-^ i think thats allways a lovely option.

@ladyartichoke: I can’t get the same color in a dress that will fit her that’s the problem. It’s a very specific color that is impossible to match. She’s definitely not being singled out as the child she will be standing up with the rest of the bridesmaids, will walk with the groomsmen, have a bouquet all of those things. She couldn’t be more excited I think she could honestly care less about her dress.
@pecanpieI I love this! Thank you for the picture it helps a lot to actually see it! It looks great!!
@SillySavage I wish it was that easy. She’s much smaller than the smallest dress size available I’m afraid the alterations would be really difficult
