Are juiced vegetable drinks actually supposed to taste good?! I was so eager to try martha stewarts green juice drink (cucumbers + celery + spinach + squeezed lemon), so I tossed it all into my juicer and vwahla!
Putrid tasting green slime drink…I am not quite sure what I was expecting since #1 I hate celery…definitely did not taste as refreshing as my fresh squeezed apple/orange drink!
If you have any vegetable juice recipes, please share, anything has to be better than this one!!!

DON’T GIVE UP!!!!!! Start small and work your way up! Add sweet fruits like green apples and pears and certainly stay away from foods you don’t like in the beginning. Also – make sure you are cleaning you your veggies really well. Nothing worse than having dirty tasting juice blah :/
On of my favorites that Darling Husband will actually drink (which is rare) = 2 pears, 1 green apple, handful of kale, handful of spinach, little bit of wheatgrass and ginger for taste. I’m a huge fan of kale and spinach with cucumber too but it’s not for everyone.
If you think that’s too much you can always start VERY small – thats how I got Darling Husband to drink juice. Take Green Apples and a teeny bit of spinach or kale and gradually add more.

@DeathByDesign: ooooooooooo! that recipe looks amazing…I am going to try to make that this week without the onion (stomach can’t handle onions for some reason!)…my SO would LOVE this recipe since he loves everything tomato based AND anything with hot sauce! I will update you on how it turns out! thanks!!!
@cora_123: thanks! I was actually considering adding an apple or 2 but wasn’t sure if I should experiment before trying it out the original recipe first, I am definitely going to try this next time, hopefully I can work my way up to this green catastrophe… I certainly have a new admiration for anyone who can handle this stuff, looks like I have a long way to go!

Ginger, honey, cinnamon, and mint! I add one or more of those usually. Or a banana, maple syrup.

If you look at the ‘Green Goodness’ or other smoothie drinks at the supermarket, they include fruits in their drinks that probably helps. I think they’re delicious, but they’re full of preservatives and other not nice things, so I don’t drink them, but peek at their ingredients next time you’re at the store for ideas! I know they use broccoli, spinach, kale, green apples, kiwi and every other green thing imaginable in their drinks. Apples and carrots make delicious juice, so maybe if you can add some of them for flavor, you’ll like it more?

I second the idea of adding fruit 🙂 makes green juice taste sooo much better, especially when you’re not used to it. My fave combo is banana and parsley. It sounds so weird, but I think they compliment each other 🙂

try working a green apple or pear into it… it will help tremendously.
- 2-3 stalks of kale
- 3-4 romaine leaves
- 1 cucumber
- 2 stalks of celery
- 1/2 inch of ginger root
- 1 broccoli stem
- 1-2 apples or pears
- 1/2 a peeled lemon
even my veggie hating husband likes this!
