We are thinking St.Lucia.  It’s pretty far south, and except for this year, the last time they got hit by a hurricane was in the 80s.  I definitely wouldn’t go anywhere much farther north in the caribbean at that time of year.

Ours is probably not at all what you are looking for since you mentioned the Carribean but I wanted to play.  We are going to go to Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone.  I am so excited to have some peace and quiet in a beautiful secluded setting.  Plus Jackson, Wy will allow for us to stay in some upscale hotel one night so we get that “honeymoon” experience.  I can’t wait!

You know, I tried to get my Fiance to agree to a trip out west and he says ‘no’.  He insists we must sit on a beach somewhere hot.  I’m thinking… it’s gonna be hot out west and we wouldn’t have to spend $1200 on plane tickets and we wouldn’t be in an impoverished island nation where we can only eat at the hotel and take guided tours and we’d be able to see totally awesome views and sit by a pool if we really needed the water.  But whatever, I can’t REALLY complain about St.Lucia.

@mcnetn3  haha that made me laugh.  I think we had the same idea that wyoming was not exactly very honeymoony but then we decided to trade in beach for lake and it will be hot there in August.  I won my Fiance over with the idea that he could fish on our honeymoon.

We were going to go to Turks and Caicos but with the new TSA regulations FH said we are not flying anywhere.  We have change our honeymoon so many times.  I really just wanted to go to our cabin in the Ozarks for a few weeks, looks like I might be getting my wish 🙂

@dance: i’m European and it’s great especially italy if you like to visit, the thing is August is a really busy month in Europe, lot of tourists, everything goes expensive without reasons.

@nil:  I know it’s super busy (and more expensive) in July/August!  That sucks a bit, but we really want to do our honeymoon after the wedding (as opposed to waiting a little while) and we really want to visit Europe.  Also, I am a pale person, and the level of extreme heat that the tropical areas (Mexico, Jamaica, St. Lucia, etc) have at that time is far too intense for me!  I want a mix of lay around lazy honeymoon and a sightseeing honeymoon, so if you have any suggestions, I would LOVE to hear them!

We’ve decided to push the big honeymoon back to the fall and do a local mini-moon after the wedding. The original reason why we decided to do this was his work, but there are a lot of perks to doing the honeymoon in the fall.

If I have never been anywhere before out of Canada or the US and am having a July wedding, would anyone be able to recommend a good first timer spot/honeymoon?

We are pretty active, in that anyone who I’ve talked all-inclusive with some have mentioned I will be bored, but at the same time, I can be really good at being lazy.

I love the heat, Fiance is a teacher, so honeymooning is a must next summer, but we’re at a loss on where to consider? He has been to Mexico once, otherwise we’ve not been anywhere too far!

We are deciding between St Lucia or Antigua, my finance says he’ll suck up the heat as long as the following summer we take a cruise up north!
