@squeak35:  I can’t wait for next week either because I’m dying to know how this turns out for you!  Sending positive thoughts your way.

@MRSLMA:  Let’s discuss OPK’s.  (OH my–as I’m typing this, I hear this guy at work talking to someone about how they are going to get 4D ultrasounds.  I can only asume he’s talking about his baby and I had no idea he was going to have a baby… I’m tuning him out now…)  Anyway, I really need help with OPK’s.  I used them in May for the first time and, like you, I think I’ve been ovulating later than I had thought.  However, this month I used them and I got barely there 2nd lines each time and then a real negative which completely confuses me.  Based on my CM this month, I almost think I ovulated really early, but I didn’t use OPK’s until the time I thought I would be ovulating.  I’ve read about people not drinking anything all afternoon and then doing the OPK’s after work–is that what you’ve done?  I’ve had a hard time doing that because I sip water constantly, but maybe I’ll have to try that next month?

@picturemeurs:  Welcome!  That’s so funny because I just wrote that about Spencer on the 6 months and up thread this morning Smile  He’s such a celebrity.  You will definately get lots of help here.   Good luck with the adventure of TTCing!

@cafegirl:  Ugghhhh- my love/hate relationship with OPKs! I pee every hour or two with no exception.  Honestly, even during the night I am LUCKY to only wake up twice.  I don’t know if I never get positives because I can’t hold it long enough or if it’s something else.  I bought like 100 OPK cheapies online and ended up ditching them because I never saw anything….. ANYTHING! Never even a FAINT second line.  I have crazy CM (TMI, I know, whatever) around O and really regular cycles so my doctor believs that I’m Oing, but still seeing stark white tests all the time! I even splurged and got the digitals so I wasn’t squinting myself to death and still nothing….

I started OPKs (digitals) this morning (CD10) and I’m going to test with FMU and at 6 PMish each day until 23.  I have a 29-31 day cycle not, so if I don’t get a + by then I either missed it completely (AGAIN!) or have a short LP issue.

The mental part of the negative OPKs is the worst part for me- other than trying to hold it for four hours which is physically impossible for me:) DH thinks I psyche myself out when I use OPKs because I assume we’re out before I even give us a chance.  To be totally honest, the only reason I’m OPKing this month is because I want to have some ammo when I go to the doctor in October if I’m not pregnant by then.  If I tell him that I STILL haven’t gotten positive OPKs by then, maybe he’ll be more likely to do testing for me.

Hello my name is MRSLMA and I got a negative OPK this morning:(

This is my first tww:):)  Any recommendations for good distractions?  I’m off for the summer bc I’m a school counselor, and I’m trying to keep busy with house projects… also my in-laws are visiting, so you’d think I’d have enough to keep me occupied, but here I am!  So excited to be here though… good luck everyone!

@MCC919:  Yayy to your cycle 1 TWW!:) I have no advice because I drive myself nutty each TWW…. I’m not even there yet and I’m already antsy! If you have any reading to do that might take up some time. Yard work is going to fill my TWW this month!

@cafegirl: When I used OPK’s this is what I did.  I would only test after work which was around 5-5:30.  Since I had an hour commute, I would take a potty break around 2 and drink water slowly for the next couple of hours.  When I made it home, I would just pee in my dixie cup and test.

I would begin testing 2 days prior to ovulation because I have always had ovulation cramps as well as CM.  I actually use My Days on the Droid for temping as well so confirm cycle changes.  After 3 months, I had it down w/in a day or two depending on which ovary I ovulated from.

I know most ppl don’t use OPKs because they can get costly so I instituted my 2-3 days a month only.  Because I temp as well, it was easier for me to catch my surge.

Hope this helps.

@squeak35:  Thank you for the advice!  I’ll try that schedule.  I also get O pains and CM, but I’ve learned that sometimes my O pains come a few days before I actually ovulate so I’m trying to pinpoint it better.  I do have regular cycles, but I just wonder if I’ve been a few days off all these months which is why I thought I’d try the OPK’s.

@MRSLMA:  I love the cry face 🙂  I’m the same way–I always get up to pee during the night and it seems like I go hourly during the day.  I need to lay off the water I guess.  I’m going to try squeak’s advice next month and see if that works.

@cafegirl:  Good to know about the O pains! I was thinking about that this morning, oh the things we think about. But anyways, I was wondering if O pains meant O was happening then or a sign its about to happen within a day or two or what. I’ve never charted or opk but I know next cycle I will be doing both because I need to know what’s going on. Especially since it will be my first Clomid cycle. Thanks for the tid-bit!

@Yellow.Clover:  Yeah, since starting this process I really started paying attention to when I actually got my O pains and realized they weren’t always happening on the day I “should” be O’ing so I went to Dr. Google and learned they can happen a few days before O, during O, or after O!  Apparently there are all kinds of little things that can cause them around that time.  One month I got really intense ones on CD 9 and one month it was a few days after I thought I’d O’d (more like CD 16 or something).  I have very regular cycles (26-27 days or so) so it seemed like the pains were not matching the right dates for ovulation.  Then again, maybe I just ovulate really early some months and late others.  All that to say, I’m hoping to get the hang of the OPK’s so I can figure out when the O pain is in relation to when I actually ovulate.  But I can’t really use that as my main indicator (pain) since some months I get it really bad and some months I barely notice.  Sorry for the novel, but I feel very invested in my O pain since it can be SO intense!  Embarassed Is yours like that?   Good luck with the clomid!  I hope it helps you.

@Yellow.Clover:  My O pains start a few days before.  Because I temp, I can see my temps start to rise so I know I’m ovulating.  I feel everything.  I feel when I O and when the egg is flowing down the tube.   After I “O” I have 2-3 days of lower back pain which I now know is tubal travel.   I just never knew that’s what it was.  I use to curse my cycles but now that I’m TTC, I appreciate my body.

@cafegirl:  What could be happening is you feel the egg release and then its travel down your tube.   It took me awhile to figure out my back pain was associated w/ the eggs travel down the tube.

I did get confirmation during this cycle because of our IUI.  I actually saw my eggs grow and my RE showed me the eggs that were going to release that evening.  I’m a geek so I was truly amazed.  My DH wondered if I lost my mind.LOL

@cafegirl:  oh yes, some months its very intense that I feel I have to double over and take Tylenol which I hate taking pain pills or any pills at that so yeah, intense. I tried looking it up on Google but couldn’t get an answer. Thank you for your research! So dang, that means I might have missed mine then. I had no idea, I always thought the pain was actuall O time. I hope I can get the OPK and charting down as well. My worry is I drink a gallon of water a day at work so I know that will affect the OPKs but I’ve gotta have my water!! =)

@squeak35:  Thank you also for that info!! I think the things our bodies do is very interesting as well!! I’ve never paid attention to lower back pain, but I did notice this cycle a few days after my suspected O ny lower back did hurt. I love how much you ladies know about these processes! I’m so glad to be a part of a wonderful group and hope one day, I can pass on some info as well. =)

@squeak35:  Wow–that is so magical both that you can feel the egg flowing down the tube and the fact that you got see your eggs grow.  That is truly amazing!

@MRSLMA:  Thanks!  I feel like I waited sooo long for DH to be ready, that I’m impatient about everything now!  I agree that yardwork is a good (but tiring and annoying) distraction!
