First, a little background. When Darling Husband and I got engaged, he was laid off and I had lost some clients so we couldn’t afford an engagement ring, so I chose a CZ and sterling silver ring that was beautiful. For the record, I told him I didn’t care if I got an engagement ring and I meant it. He had second thoughts after the fact, and felt terrible and as though he hadn’t done it the ‘right’ way so we compromised for the CZ. Now, since it was CZ and sterling, we both knew it wouldn’t last forever and I’d eventually need an ‘upgrade’. My engagement ring, which is a halo, is beautiful and I always loved it…but it never felt like ‘me’ and while I still think it’s pretty sometimes, other times I absolutely hate it. Also, when I went shopping for wedding rings, I didn’t love how it looked paired with anything I tried. I ended up getting a plain wedding band (which is what I wanted) and kept looking whenever I got bored but I could NEVER make a decision!! So I decided that the only way to know for sure was to get a ring, wear it for a while, and see if I still liked it after a few months. Clearly, Darling Husband can’t afford to buy me a new engagement ring every few months, so I decided to go for another CZ. If, in a few months, I’m still in love, we will get the forever version. For reference, here is the original ring:

And with my original wedding band (it was titanium, Darling Husband and I each ended up replacing our ‘real’ wedding bands within weeks of the wedding haha)

Anyway, last week I found one I liked and placed the order and it arrived yesterday, just in time for Christmas!!! I don’t know how I’ll feel in a few months, but for right now it’s just perfect for me

(with the replacement band)

And a shot of them both. To be fair, this is a HORRIBLE picture of the halo ring, it was filthy and the new one was straight out of the box clean LOL. Also the new ring pics were taken with my iPhone and the old ring pics were taken with my good camera

I think they are both beautiful rings but you should go with what feels right to you. And smart to live with it for a while before you make the full commitment π

Waaait, the new one is CZ too!! I would have never guessed lol, it looks real to me. But thats awesome that you are taking the time to make sure you get the ring you want! It was so stressful trying to pick a ring that I had never worn before!! Very smart!

Thanks ladies!! So far I still love the new one, it’s plainer than the first one and less fussy (all those prongs on the first one scared me LOL).

@MerryWidow: Are you going to do CZ and gold when you decide on your forever ring? Or do an Asha or something like that? I’m excited for you! Can’t wait to see what you come up with for your new ering – whatever you decide it will be fab!

I’m a brat…I like them both π But I can see how different they are, and it depends on “who” you are π
Is it even necessary to upgrade it? It looks perfect….very, very real. I have to be honest, I am as inlove with my sapphire halo as I am with my diamond solitaire. I acrually switched out the sapphire center stone for a signity cz becasue I wanted more facets and sparkle than the sapphire gave – lol. Go figure…I switch out a real stone for a cz. Hey…its all in what you like!!!

I read your post title and thought ‘Nooooo’ as I love halos, but your new ring is stunning. I actually prefer it to the first ring, which is saying something!
