Well, I’m pretty crazy and bought my dress and veil! Lol. And that’s about it. I am really considering one venue (where I plan to have both ceremony and reception) but not looking into it until later.

I have my venue booked and a deposit with the photographer.  I also put down a small deposit with a company for invitations/paper products.  I’ve chosen the photobooth as well, and need to get back in touch with them.  My venue is in the process of revising their list of preferred caterers, but as soon as they are done with that, I intend to jump on scheduling some tastings.

For me, the venue was the most important thing to lock down.  Once I saw mine was already filling up for summer 2012 in January of 2011, I knew I had to move fast.

I’ve got the venue, photog and DJ. Decided on colors and chose our bridal party. We’re meeting with videogs and officiants next month.

We’ve been engaged since August though so we’ve gotten a lot crossed off the list.

If you haven’t really started anything yet, we found that starting to figure out our budget and approximate guest list was helpful. Then we started venue hunting. πŸ™‚

@TinyTina: I agree –  My sister learned the hard way that choosing a venue before you know your approximate guest count can lead to lots of headaches.

@mrs ranunculus: Yea I’ve seen so many bees on here who had to cut the guest list because their venue just couldn’t accomodate any more people. We knew we’d be having a large guest list so we were able to immediately cross a lot of venues off our list. When we started our list was at 180, now it’s up to 210… We ended up booking with a place that can hold up to 300 so there will be 0 concerns about the guest list and last minute additions.

Well, I’m a JULY of 2012 bride and I’ve started planning! I am in the process of booking my venue. My date is available and I’m just waiting to hear back from my coordinator so we can make our deposit and such. I have a consultation tonight with a photographer. I am also looking into florists and bakers because according to most of their websites, you should try to book them a year in advance. I was surprised how many of these vendors want to be booked a year in advance. I guess it makes sense, but I wasn’t figuring having to lock down this much stuff this early! I’m having the best time though. It’s nice to be attempting to get the big stuff out of the way so I can focus on the smaller details.

Happy planning!

OH, I also forgot. We have our color scheme picked out. Our bridal party is named. We have our wedding website up and running! I love looking at it. πŸ™‚ We have chosen what our favors will be, just been waiting on nailing down the date so we can order them. I have already purchased my bridesmaid gifts, found a great wholesale deal! We have already picked out our invitations and have found where we are getting our save-the-date magnets (so cool, by the way).

What we’re trying to do is to spread as much of it out as we can so we aren’t spending a big chunk of money at once. We figure if we spread the spending out, we won’t be financially stressed when it comes to the wedding. So far, it’s working great! Plus, it allows me to do some planning instead of waiting forever. Another great factor for starting early is that you don’t have as much of a fight to get the vendors you want. πŸ™‚

  • Tried on gowns and may have found “the one”
  • Chosen colours
  • Wedding party picked – that was easy since its our daughters
  • Real touch hydrangeas purchased for my bouquet. I just happened to run across them in the colour I wanted in Micheals so I bought them

Just booked the venue!  We are having our ceremony there too.  Next step is to find a Rabbi.  I’m doing a conversion to Judaism so I need to get this going early.

I’m thinking I’ll go dress shopping in May – if I can wait until then! I’m in graduate school so I don’t have a lot of time before then, but it sounds so fun!

  June 23rd here!!

This is what’s been accomplished so far:

  • Booked the reception venue and photographer.
  • Made the down payment on both of them.
  • I’ve asked my Maid/Matron of Honor, Fiance and I have decided to wait until June to ask the rest of the bridal party.
  • Researched dresses online. I found a potential one, but I’m trying to hold off until sometime between late March and June to go try it on.
  • Ceremony is narrowed down to two places…mine or his. Mine does not book a lot of weddings, plus my uncle is the head of ours, so the date is unofficially held. With his church, it shouldn’t be too big of a problem to book the date.
  • One of our officiants is secured…my uncle. Fiance wants someone to be there from his religion, too, and I’m okay with that.
  • Found a potential bridesmaid dress.
  • Researched bridal party gifts.
  • We know our florist and cake vendor, but we’re not booking those for awhile.
