We’re doing a lot of DIY projects! Centerpieces, chalkboards for seating charts, bouquets, cake/cupcakes, cupcake tower, invitations..and probably more I can’t remember! I’m really excited for our test run of the centerpieces. Here’s what we want it to look like:

We’re making the boxes and planting the wheat grass ourselves.

Most of my wedding will be DIY, actually.  I’ve already finished the Save-The-Date Cards & they’re out, bubbles for the exit, I <3 Spy cards, picshare cards, table numbers & all table decor, invitations & menu cards…and I’m probably leaving off a few things. shoo!  I’ll definitely try to post them as I’m completing them.  I guess, I just rather put in the time this far out so our stamp will be all over our day!

I DIY the Save the Dates (picture and the wording in PS), wire name hangers for BM’s and right now the plan is to DIY the invitations also but we need to figure out price in DIY (especially ink) vs just ordering them. I’d like to DIY the centerpieces, some boards with different wording for our table at the reception, cocktail hour and for seating at the ceremony. Also the place/ escort cards and fascinators for the BM’s hair if we decide to do them.

We are also doing a lot of DIY! So far I have done our invites and ring warming box! I’m sure I will have a lot more to post once the snow starts to fall, and I am stuck indoors!

@BakeosaurusRex:  Wow, your invitations are gorgeous! How did you make those?

So far, I’ve made our ringbearer’s pillow, tried to figure out how to do paper flower escort cards and attempted to design our programs in Microsoft Word.

@crystalrae:  I made a few different versions in Photoshop, and then had my bridesmaids vote on which one they liked best. I had them printed at staples. First I went in and had them show me the different types and weights of paper, and then chose three. I had them printed on the three different papers (total cost of about $3) and chose which one I liked best from there!

After they were printed I went online and bought the little ‘candy’ bags to put them in. I already had the tickets, stamps, and twine.

The most difficult and time consuming part is the actual design process. If you will have some free time over the winter, and have basic photoshop or illustrator skills, you should give it a try! You can also have someone design them for you on Etsy, and have them printed elsewhere from the digital file.

We are having a casual laid back wedding, in a barn, so I knew the invites didn’t need to be too fancy. In my circle of family and friends the invitation isn’t usually very fancy anyway, so I wasn’t too worried!

If you do decide to go the DIY route and need some help, let me know! I would be happy to offer any tips that I can!

@crystalrae:  They weren’t too terribly hard to make. I forgot to take pictures of the 2 I have given to 2 of the BM’s already. :/ Once I finish the others I will make sure to take a picture before I send them to them. The fascinator idea was actually from the lady at the dress shop where I got my dress. I loved the idea!

@crystalrae:  I love your out of town guest gift idea! What kinds of things are you thinking of putting in them? my Fiance and I are both from military backgrounds, we are getting married in AZ where NONE of our family is, so we will be having more out of towners than not! And I really love your idea!!

Our wedding theme is Dia de los Muertos.  We sent out our DIY STD’s with STD Magnet in September for our Destination Wedding in 2013 πŸ™‚  We took out our names…it looks kinda plain without them πŸ™  The circle around the date is green but doesn’t show up in the pic.  I should add that the bride and groom were custom designed by Fiance and we’re using it on all of our stationary, favors, and special details!  We even got a custom rubber stamp and have ordered custom glass gobos πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
