- Wedding: May 2012
A Sip & See is a bizarre Southern tradition, when guests are invited to the MOB’s home and gifts are put out on display, and people visit and have refreshments and view the gifts. My mother insisted that I have one, only she doesn’t live here, so it’s at FI’s and my house. Which means the house has to be clean. Which is one more thing to do. And the whole thing was left to me to arrange. BUT, I am finding that I like the idea of following this tradition, when the rest of my wedding is very non-traditional, and this lets me catch up with people coming in from out of town as well as friends and neighbors, all in my own home where I can sit down. And my mom has finally started chipping in to help, especially after she saw me reaching my breaking point yesterday. She’ll be here in a couple of hours to help with the food.
And yesterday, with lots of guests coming in and lots of getting people to the right place, for some reason they all needed to call me to coordinate. So I need to find that thread that asks for regrets of thing brides wish they had done differently, because I need to add: Having a designated person Besides Yourself who is the contact person for everyone with a question or a problem.
And I have to add another delightful shift from yesterday’s stress: I had forgotten the upside of having someone baking cake in your kitchen all day. MY WHOLE HOUSE SMELLS LIKE CAKE. It’s heaven in here. Seriously. I just walk around my house sniffing the air and smiling.
I know I may be the only crazy bee on here that got married today but CONGRATS June 23rd bees! I’m looking forward to recaps!!!! My wedding had a lot of flaws but it was also flawless… I know you’d know what I mean. It was so fast and over so quickly. I spent 100$ on a bustle I didn’t use along with a bunch of other things lol and it made me really want to stick around and let other bees know what really matters and what is just extra special lol.
We did it! It was absolutely amazing. I have a huge hole on the skirt where someone stepped on it and I ended up ripping my dress off because Fiance DH was too drunk to undo the buttons, LoL!
We had some wedding crashers (DH’s aunt’s 2nd husband’s daughter ????) who brought her BABY. I was livid because we told family that they couldn’t bring their kids.
Other than that, it was amazing and it flew by. We’re beyond happy and just laying around on the couch now! We leave for Hawaii on Wednesday.
Yay! I’ve had to go back and edit myself twice today already when I wrote Fiance intead of DH 🙂
Yes. Yes, yes, yes. I was exhausted and overwrought by the morning of, but had a lovely, quiet day with my fella and my bff, and by the time we started pictures, I was in heaven. A few hours into the party, a transformer near the venue blew and the power was shut off for about half an hour, but by that point everyone was pretty much outside on the patio anyway, and we just took candles in with us if we needed the bar or the bathroom. When the power came back on we cheered. It was actually pretty great.
Hope you all had a wonderful day!
Just wanted to come back a do a quick recap on our day. The weather turned out beautiful (75 degrees) and sunny. We had 2 wedding crashers (his uncle who got drunk and acted an A!!) and 10 no-shows. Also 3 hours before the wedding I was outside setting up my own chairs b/c my sister was no where to be found. However, everything was exactly as I imagined simple and intimate. Now we are just looking forward to the honeymoon and the professional pictures.
I hope you ladies had a wonderful day also.
