donna_saur:  Thanks so much! I hope it cools down even more for you! I can’t imagine 90 degrees in a wedding dress!

Our Michigan summers have a tendency to be hot and humid too, but we’re only looking to be around the upper 70s!

Single digits! We’re having our ceremony in one of the rainiest parts of SF, and right now the forecast says partly cloudy, so I hope that’s accurate! We have a backup in case of rain, but I’ve always wanted an outdoor ceremony ๐Ÿ™‚

donna_saur:  It is really just an open house–we have a large pool and people have traveled so far for our wedding, we had to do something on Sunday, I felt.  The gift opening won’t be a major part, but we’ll make sure to open gifts from those who are here so we can thank them personally.  We’ve been good, haven’t used any of the gifts…just have them out.

But secretly I’m hoping for cash.  Our house needs some new windows and those suckers are difficult to place on a registry!

MichiganGirl24:  Unless it forecasts pouring rain for the whole area for the whole day, you will probably be just fine!  Nine days out the forecasts are so inaccurate anyway.

wabanzi:  We have gotten a lot of checks with our RSVP cards – mostly people who aren’t going to be able to make it. We are saving these.  As for the gifts, we have needed a lot of these things and some are just for fun!  We just moved in together about a month ago.  I had lived alone previously, so I had a few things (nothing matching) and he had nothing.  So we have made do, but it’ll be nice to be able to use these gifts!!!

wabanzi:  On our website, after the registries, we put “Support towards our dream sofa also appreciated.” Tacky? Maybe, but I don’t care!

A couple days ago, we got the most expensive single item on our registry, a really nice smart remote. We didn’t think anyone would actually buy it for us, and we’d just use some of the wedding money towards a less expensive version, but why not put it on there? Thank you FIL’s wealthy cousin ๐Ÿ™‚

ladyamalthea:  We just didn’t register for much.  I just checked our list and nearly everything has been purchased, so the Johny-come-latelies will have to buy off grid or cash (if they plan on gifting).

donna_saur:  So we invited a lot of FI’s family (Canadians) and I thought it was weird that we were not getting cards (or gifts) when they declined.  Whenever I decline an invitation, I immediately send the gift (or card with a check, or at least the card).  But apparently this is normal in his family.  Not sure if it is a Canadian thing, but definitely did not get gifts from regrets.  I think I actually prefer not having gifts from those who can’t attend.  I feel less guilty about sending those invites to them all.

We are also an older couple, so we really don’t need/want for much –except for those replacement windows (ha ha).

Hey there, wedding date twin! I saw your post and realized that we have the same wedding date & also we are leaving for our honeymoons on the same date! I am also going to the Riviera Maya but we are staying at the Valentin Imperial Maya. It is now 8 days until our wedding! Like you, I am feeling very excited but my nerves are also steadily increasing haha

I hope that you have a beautiful wedding day!

Just got home from my last day of work as a single lady! Leaving for NorCal on Tuesday and packing and running errands on Monday. And my boss gave me a card with a nice check! I was so surprised and touched.

wabanzi:  Happy belated birthday!

Holy sh*t 4 days away! We’re leaving for San Francisco today and I can’t sleep (woke up around 5:30). It’s normal for me to wake up for a minute around this time but usually I can fall right back asleep. We’re not even leaving until around 2!
