I just had my first fitting tonight!!!  I love the seamstress, and feel really good about her.  Didn’t need to be hemmed, which is spectacular (read: saves a ton of money)!  I got a pretty flustered when we were deciding what to do with the “bra” part of the dress.  We were going to do cups, then decided against it….then I felt really insecure and like if I moved a certain way everyone would see everything!  That’s my “bright red” moment….I wanted it to look right, but not flash my guests!

But they did a good job of calming me down and assuring me that really won’t happen…and, as she said, when you’re wearing a strapless dress you just have to be aware that you can’t necessarily move in a crazy range.  It’s a corset back, so I felt pretty secure.  Next time we’re also going to lift it a little tiny bit higher and lace it a little tighter to help.  I’m sure it didn’t help that we were shoving our hands down the front putting the cups in and taking them out.  Overall it went really well and I’m super excited!

How much are you ladies being charged?  For a hem, bustle and to bring in the waist of the dress it is about $300.  Pricey (I think?), but I trust this person so the cost is worth every penny.

@cali_cat:  I really lucked out – most of my $$ would have been in the hem, and I didn’t need one!  So my alterations are only $80!!  I was budgeting around $200-$300.  The rest of the dress fits REALLY well, so it’s just the bustle, really, for me, and she’s working on fixing a weird horizontal line that runs through the hips of the dress.

My SIL got married 11 years ago and spent $300 on her alterations – she got done about what you are getting done.

@laurenm78:  Wow, then I guess maybe I got a bargain 😉  I won’t complain at all.  Also she is working pretty fast – said my dress will be ready in 2 weeks!

Making our way down the dress, getting so closed to finished! Cups are in now, and the layers have been tidied up all the way down to the upper thigh area (you can see it’s a little loose on the right). Going back Friday for more! Woohoo, I’m SO EXCITED with how it’s looking. This is also the necklace I’m wearing with it.

I just had my final fitting last week and OMG I love my dress!!!  The lace just needs to be re-attached near the seams where it was taken in, but I pick it up June 25th!!!

All my fittings are done as well! The first real fitting where they were actually pinning I got pretty flustered and was feeling super hot.  The second fitting was much better and I was cool calm and collected and felt much better in the dress. I live 5 hours away from where we’re getting married and I also bought my dress there…here’s to hoping the next 24 days go smoothly and I can work off this camping/junk food weight since my last fitting a few weeks ago.

@copewedding:  Beautiful Dress!!  I love lace!

i had a fitting Thursday and my dress is starting to come together. I have to say..I went from hating my dress in the beginning to not wanting to take it off Thursday! I’m hoping when I go back Tuesday for my final fitting I’ll feel even better about fingers crossed.

Had my first fitting yesterday and everything was ok but the back was too tight at the top and gave me back cleavage :-O

The seamstress is sorting it and coming back Tues at midday which is the absolute deadline – eek!

Also must mention, i’ve lost 5lb from stress! Has anyone else lost a few lb? My dress is a tight mermaid, so i’m not bothered if I lose a bit more…am a US size 6, but to be honest if the dress was slightly roomy, I can just eat more after the wedding ceremony hehe!

I’ve had two fittings. The first one we decided to take in the bust and hips, hem and add bustle. The hem and bustle and hip are perfect, but in the bust she only took in the top few inches so there was a bulge below that! So she’s taking the rest in now.

My last fitting is June 27th… 3 DAYS BEFORE THE WEDDING!! *cue panic*

@BeeEuphoric:  Sorry to hear you need another fitting!  Thank goodness you tried it on afterwards.  My dress had a problem with a buncy horizontal line right at my hips that showed up which my seamstress thought was fixed….until she put it on my body.  She is fixing it this week, then I go back for my FINAL final fitting on Monday the 24th – five days before the wedding!  I just hope it’s fixed all right…..they assure me that it’ll be steamed and ready to pick up by Wednesday if all goes well Monday.  So I’ll keep my fingers crossed for BOTH of us!!

@Aalia:  I feel like I’ve gained weight, but my Fiance says it’s all in my head and I’m the skinniest I’ve ever been since he’s known me (which made me feel great, haha).  Haven’t actually stepped on the scale.  When I’m stressed I tend to eat more….especially things that aren’t good for me – so I’m trying to really watch it.
