I will probably have my hair/makeup trial at the end of April or early May!  I dont have a hair piece yet either… nothing has really “spoken” to me yet.

I went to Sephora a few weeks ago and had my makeup done to give me some ideas on new products to use.  Since I’m getting married out of state I’m planning on doing my own hair and makeup.  I’m planning to start doing trials next weekend, we normally go out on the weekends so I’ll have plenty of opportunities to play around with different looks.  Though it doesn’t hurt that my friend, who is traveling to the wedding, used to do bridal makeup…so I have a backup plan if I need it.

We’re out of state too, so just a couple days before the wedding 🙁

@peonies327:  ahaha… Im sure  a $415 hair piece would speak to me, too! haha

I dont know… I would rather buy a hair piece to go with my hair style versus make my hair style go with my hair piece.  Make sense?

That way, I know my hair will look good.

I did a hair trial when I went for a consultation with my hair stylist in January. I brought my veil and accessories and we did 2 styles. I was really happy how it went and we took tons of pictures. I am having a down-do, so it’s not  crazy extravagant. She is doing my hair for the rehearsal dinner with the style that we didn’t pick for the wedding. I won’t se her ’til the rehearsal dinner day.

I did a consultation with my make up artist in November to make sure we are a good fit. She has a good idea of what I want, but we will wait ’til one month before the wedding (mid-late May) to do one more trial.

I live in DC and the wedding is in CA. The last time I was home was December and that’s when I had my hair and makeup trials done because at the time, it was the last time I was going to be there up until the week before the wedding.

Now, we’re moving back to CA, so we’ll be there a few weeks earlier than expected but I’m still glad that I did it earlier so I don’t have to stress about getting that done while moving, etc.

@HeLovesDogs:  just curious- are you being charged for both or any of your trials?  My MUA wants to charge $48 for the trial- so I only want to have one.  Is that too much $$?

I did my hair and makeup trial in January, the day we did our engagement photos. I paid $150 plus tips for the trial. Some people say to wait until closer to the wedding date so your MUA doesn’t ‘forget’ but I think as long as you have photos and a talented MUA, you’ll be fine. If you’re not in a hurry, I’d wait until June until you have a better idea as to what you want. I knew what hairstyle/makeup as well as had my hairpiece too, although it’a not necessary.

@sunshinebee:  my MUA is a bobby brown manager, so I was able to just visit her at Macys one night and she did my trial at no cost. I did have to put down a $25 deposit. When I go for my 2nd trial, I’ll just visit her at Macys again. Unfortunately, I think its common to run into trials that are in the $50 range…when I was looking for hair stylists many of them wanted $50 for the trial and it wouldn’t even be put towards the final cost if I chose to book with them! I had to just shop around for quality salon/MUA that was also friendly when it comes to booking/trials

I’m doing mine the day of my shower/bachelorette party. Mainly because I’m coming in from out of town, but also to get the most bang for my buck!

I’m having a friend and her sisters do our hair. We are planning for a trial for sometime in April as May is going to be crazy!
