I lived in Wellington for a while, the weather is pretty crap in June. NZ is one of the most beautiful countries I’ve ever been to, and the South Island in particular is stunning…but the weather in June is damp, wet, grey, and depressing.

somethingbee:  I live in Wellington and am from Auckland. You don’t want to be here in winter unless you want to ski or something. It rains a lot!

I went to New Zealand the end of may and it was rather cold and rainy. I am always cold though. I was there for a little less than a week, we did tons of activities… but the weather did limit our options. It was beautiful though. I really want to go back just during a different part of the year.

Yeah, I’m from NZ and it’s pretty cold in June. Unless you’re super into winter sports, it’s not the best. However, some of the most beautiful places are stunning in the snow, and it’s a little less touristy at that time of year…I think NZ is less of a honeymoon destination, more of an adventure/exploring type place to visit. So many amazing walks/hikes in summer! Could be fun if you combined it with a tropical place though – nothing more romantic than being huddled in a cozy cabin in front of the fire!

And some extra thoughts about NZ – I always recommend people make the visit worthwhile (because it’s so far away people tend to only come once) it’s better taking a month or so to really see all of it
