I am not in June but thought I’d chime in here to say our wedding is in March right around Spring Break so I went ahead and send out my save-the-dates last month so everyone would be aware and make plans accordingly. I don’t think it is too soon to send out your save-the-dates. After all, it is just a heads up so they can “save the date”. 🙂

Our wedding date is June 12, 2010 and I plan to have my STD’s sent out within the next two weeks.  I think giving people plenty of time to plan is considerate and thoughtful and from everything I’ve read in my wedding planner and wedding books it seems as though we have the right idea.  Peace & Love!!

Oh wow really?  We’re June 5, 2010 and I haven’t even THOUGHT of STDs!  Yikes, I suck at this whole wedding planning thing!  I was thinking of sending mine out like in February… is that too late?!?!  Well, I was gonna email everyone with a link to our wedding website sometime soon, which obviously has our date listed on it.  You think that would work?

When are y’all planning on sending out invites then?

MsPascua – STD’s are usually sent out between 6 – 8 months but honestly, I think you are OK with sending them out now. I sent my Save-The-Date Cards out the end of January ’09 for my September ’09 wedding because it falls on a holiday weekend. If you think it is too early, have some family members start chatting about it so when they receive the STD it is fresh in their mind. That’s what we did.

Ours was june too and it was hella pricey! For $500 more in August, my parents are spending one WHOLE more week in the dominican republic for vacation. Prices are outrageous in June!

Your STD’s are a little early I think but better early than late !

I was planning on ordering them in the next two months or so.  We really want to use our e -pics so we have to wait for those to be finished.  As far as sending them out, I was going to wait until 6 or 7 months before. I get worried about people losing them! I see no problem with earlier though, especially if you have a destination wedding or lots of Out of Town guests.

My wedding is June 12, 2010.  We made our STD cards a few weeks ago, and after hearing the whole 6-8 month rule, I think we have decided to send them in the beginning of October.  I think that should give our guests plenty of time.  We are only 10 months away now…so I think anytime between now and October would be good!

We’re planning a destination event {beach town on Columbus Day weekend}, so we’re planning on sending them between 7-8 months.

hmmmm, now I’m a little embarassed because I’ve heard STD’s should be sent out 9-12 months from the wedding, so I’m June 12 (holla!) and I sent mine out in the middle of July…Too early?? I don’t want to seem over-eager, just excited to let everyone know about the wedding!

Can I chime in with advice?  Definitely consider STDs!  We sent them out to MOST guests, but not to the people we weren’t 100% about inviting.  When we ended up inviting them, most of these guests had made plans and asked why we hadn’t sent out STDs!  Frown

Our wedding is this labor day weekend and we started sending save the dates last October, but only to guests who lived very far away. We sent them to local guests starting in the March/April timeline.
