One of my bridesmaids is going to be my fiances little sister. She is 9 (big age difference) and will be 9 when we get married. This girl is awesome, I seriously adore her. She is very fashion forward and fits in a solid girls size 9. I thought because she is definitely more mature for her age I would ask her to be a bridesmaid, not a flower girl.
All of my other three bridesmaids all really like the idea of a convertible dress. I am leaning towards this one (http://www.henkaa.com/sakura-convertible-dress-short-burgundy-wine.html) The henkaa short dress in burgandy wine. I know his sister would love if she matched… do you think it would be awkward for a 9 year old to wear a convertible dress? A lot of the options are very modest. I just kind of want a general opinion before I talk to his mom about it. If I bring it up to his sister she will probably want it (I think?). Or should I just say she can pick out whatever dress she wants in burgany / wine. I’m not super concerned that the dresses should all match, but I think since everyone seems to really like the idea of a convertible dress, the dresses might as well match. Or would it be ok if 3/4 girls wore a convertible and his 9 year old sister wear something else?
*She isn’t the maid of honor, my sister is, I know sometimes they wear special dresses. Our colors are dark red and gold, I could always have his sister in gold so its totally different and i wouldn’t have to worry about clashing reds?

I love the convertible dress. I think it would be fun for your BM’s. I have 8 & 10 year old daughters. Both have bold opinions about what they like to wear. I wouldn’t let them wear that dress. I think it is a little too grown up for them, and unless it’s offered in a junior size (which I didn’t see), it wouldn’t fit them properly. They don’t have breasts yet, so it wouldn’t look right. I would look for a dress that is offered in youth or junior sizes, so it’s made for a young girls body.
My suggestion would be to pick 3-5 dress that you like for her, and let her pick which out of those that she will want. I would worry about reds matching if it was me, so I would let her wear gold. I think she will probably feel really special that she gets something a little different. Good luck!

I think the dress is adorable! It would be cute on any girl, any age. I think the 9 year old would think it was trendy. She has the option to wear it in a way she likes or is comfortable with. I don’t think it looks too old or mature whatsoever.

These convertible dresses can be made to have a “tank” or “tube” top added to it so it wouldnt be so revieling for a young girl. You may want to get safety pins to ensure that the straps dont come undone from her tugging on it and running around. Also Im not sure if you know a person who sews, but these can be made for less than $50 pp. There are plenty of instructions on how to make them online. This way u can add the tank section for the little one.

That dress does not look like it is approp for a 9 year old IMO.
