So Fiance and I would love to include his younger step sister and step brother in the big day. She is 16 (will be 17 at the wedding) and brother is 13. Right now we have 4 on each side for the bridal party. I really did’t want more than that… I guess 5 on each side wouldn’t be bad… but then we have to find another guy. The Fiance would like to have his stepbro as an usher. Can I consider her a Junior bridesmaid and have her just walk down the aisle by herself or is she at the age where she is a bridesmaid? And if she is a ‘junior bridesmaid’ does she also stand up at the altar with all the other girls? And then there’s the issue of having an uneven number for pictures if we don’t have a male counterpart. (Might be a bit of a perfectionist with the even number on both sides) Let me know what you think!

I’ve never seen someone over the age of about 13/14 be a junior bridesmaid. Typically a Jr Bridesmaid or Best Man title is reserved for a girl between the ages of 9 and 14 who is too old to be a flower girl. I would include her as a regular bridesmaid or in some other way, such as doing a reading during the ceremony. IMO, if you’re old enough to drive, be a junior/senior in highschool, etc, you’re probably too old to be a junior bridesmaid! We didn’t have an even number for pictures, and they turned out just fine.

I think you could add her as a bridesmaid and have the stepbro be a junior groomsman. That way too, the numbers will still be even.

Definitely a JR Bridesmaid or Best Man – way too old for a flower girl. My Fiance little sister is 13 and will be in the wedding as a JR Bridesmaids (but she’s carrying our rings). So, we don’t really have a flower girl, but we do have a ring bearer – we just call her a Jr Bridesmaids. lol
You can really make up anything for anyone, its your wedding!! No one judges, (at least shouldn’t) and could careless if they do.
As for the pics, I don’t think it will make a difference. If you are OCD (in a positive way! 🙂 And it really irks you (my sister is like that, so I understand) – then you can add another guy or use the usher to take pictures with the full wedding paty to equal it out.
