Great post. πŸ™‚ I’m glad the Hive has been so wonderful to you, I can certainly say the same.

1) I’ve been able to do half of my venue search from at home. The local boards have been great to me in that, when I post about a venue, brides-to-be, newlyweds, and experienced DOCs have all contacted me with tips, experiences, etc. It has been invaluable to say the least.

2) The inspiration. I can’t tell you how many things I’ve never heard of that we are incorporating because a Bee (or board member) posted about them.

3) Encouragement. I never would have had the courage to do my cake trial, etc, without talking to you all. Many people in my real life are not big on DIY and think it’s a waste of time. R is not like that, but he supports me on everything anyway, so it’s nice to get other, less biased opinions.

4) Actual help – I’ve never “met” a group of people so willing to go out of their way for people they’ve never met in real life. The Hive is wonderfully creative and generous!

WB has taught me that there are other people going through similar situations.

It provides me with feedback on how to do things better, with DIY to emotional stuff. A place for me to vent when wedding planning just gets too tough. Im communicating alot better with vendors and its provided me a research tool.

It makes me stay up late at night (which you might think is a bad thing) but I suffer from severe anemia (low iron) and I was constantly in bed by 8.30pm and now I find im staying up later which makes up for more convo time to FH after the day at work and I have more energy to stay up on weekends. (my health took a dive for a about a year and I couldnt do much) Also FH is relieved that I dont talk wedding stuff to him as much, as before WB, I was like how bout this and this? and he was always like, whatever you want babe.

My job doesnt allow me to be creative, so this is a good outlet with the DIY stuff.

Anyway ive rambled too much. But it helps me alot!

1. I’m no longer terrified of weddings. Huzzah!

2. I’ve learned a lot by tapping into the WB knowledge base; wedding info naturally, shopping, health, exercise, sexuality, divorce, and all sorts of interesting topics. I know what I’m getting myself into, which is why I’m no longer worried about it. The veil has been drawn back and I can proceed without fear of the Drama Llama, Etiquette Police, or Tacky Monster.

3. I like being able to talk about wedding-related stuff with people who know what I’m experiencing. Particularly with the ladies in waiting. We’re not (usually) judged as overbearing hussies who are pushing our men down the aisle. πŸ˜‰

There are 0238420384 things that I’ve learned/gained from the bee, but one of the biggest non-wedding things is the fact that I learned about using moisturizer. I never used it before. I am enlightened now. :p

Random, I know.
