What an excellent way to learn from your own mistake.

As a pet owner, I feel that it is my responsibility to let people who come over to my house know that we have dogs and a cat. Some people are afraid of dogs or have allergies, and when they are invited in to my home it is polite to make them aware.

Also, since you are someone with presumably severe allergies, you should always keep your allergy meds with you.

julies1949:  HOLY SHIT! seriously. wtf. I assumed (like an idiot) over the counter meds were pretty harmless. I only keep taking it everyday because I get so itchy. I thought the itching was my allergies. My life is a lie. lol this is crazy! I need to get off of this stuff! Thank you bee!

herrera2016:  It’s not a problem while you are still taking it. I was on it for over a year. It’s just if you stop taking it, you may have severe itching. When I did some reading, I then tapered my dose: 3/4 of a pill for a week; 1/2 pill for a week; 1/4 pill for a week. I was able to stop with no further itching nightmare.

julies1949:  I just am wondering how many days do I actually have allergies and how much is it that I just get insanely itchy when I don’t take it? 99% of the reason I take it is because I get terribly itchy with out it! I need to come off it and see if I actually have other allergies year round or if it’s just certain times.

joesbride1226:  the fact that the venue was changed last minute is irrelevant. my dog will be at my wedding venue – she’s part of our family, and goes everywhere (she even was in the church pew for the catholic mass wedding of my sister). so you should have asked about pets regardless of the venue. you obviously have some kind of contact with someone in charge, as they let you know 30 mins beforehand there was a change – you could have asked at that point.

as for putting the dog away when company comes over – nope, doesn’t happen in my house. our dog is a very sweet, calm-mannered german shepherd who is our baby. she behaves herself, and so we expect people that come into our home to behave themselves as well. if you can’t deal with having a dog around because you’re terrified, you’re free to go. but we don’t put her away.

pickles325:  +1

Personal responsibility vanished and victimhood took its place.
