- Wedding: June 2011
Exactly as it reads:
SO is going to propose soon. I know it because we have talked about it. He wants to surprise me with the actual proposal, but I know it will happen before the year ends because we have discussed that with school and work our opportunities for having the wedding he wishes to have are limited. Well, I know this, he knows this, his mom knows this, but random people whom I’m not close to (at work, particularly) are constantly asking, “When’s he going to propose?” “So has he proposed yet?” “No ring, I thought it would have happened over the long weekend…” Really, you are that excited about me getting engaged?
I’m just annoyed, because I really want to lay off my SO but each time they ask me, I get annoyed and I sometimes take it out on him. Sad, I know. It doesn’t help that in less than a year, several of my co-workers have gotten engaged, married, engaged and married, and are well into baby-making. I don’t know what to say to them that won’t come off rude.
I used to politely say, “It’ll happen” or “No, not yet,” or something like that. Now I find myself just walking away. Seriously, I don’t even want to tell them when he does propose.
