In our house our favorite piece is the one I inherited from my grandma.  My grampa bought her a hope chest in 1929 as an engagement gift.  I was so embarassed when my mother asked my grandma, her Mother-In-Law, to leave me the hope chest and grandma said of course.  My granpa had just come to this country in 1927 and my grandmother was the sole bread winner in her family.  I can’t imagine how much long it took to save  for it.  It’s amazing and so pretty, and grandma left tons of  things in it for me.

I have my great grandmothers dresser, my grandmothers dresser LOL…and an old chair that belonged to my dutch grandmother. I love antique furniture.

Can I just say that I am totally jealous.

Darling Husband won’t even talk about getting new furniture. He says there is no point with the kitten/cats *humph*

My favorite piece of furiture is our bright blue nightstands from CB2. Such a fun pop of color! I love that none of our furniture came in a “set”, actually – it took longer to pull everything together, but each piece is really interesting and meaningful for us!

our favorites pieces are those the are family antiques – I have my grandmother’s bedroom set, which my husband insisted I keep, and he has a grandfather clock, hope chest, desk and rocking chair that all were his parents/grandparents.

My grandmother completely refinished a dining room table/chairs for us. It took her a very long time, and a lot of effort and thought went behind the upholstery, color and she really wants to keep it in the family.  Since Darling Husband and I just put an offer on our first home this morning– all I can think about is how amazing it will look in the new dining room with the huge windows. Of course, I am trying not to get emotionally attached to the house right now, but I know how great that table will look in it & it is the first thing I thought of when we walked in!

The bed that is in my guest room is probably my favorite. It’s an antique. My parents found it at a restoration shop (the owners dropped it off and never came back to get it) when they were newlyweds. The headboard goes almost all the way to the ceiling. It’s quite beautiful!

ahhh… Im jealous, too!!!

I like a lot of pieces of furniture that we have – mixes of old and new.

I bought a new bedroom suite 2 years ago (my first “big girl” purchase after college) and I love it still.  It is in our master bedroom.

We have lots of “junk-tiques” that I’ve either repurosed or rehabbed.  One of my favorites is an old steamer trunk that we use as a end table in the living room.  Ive also got a vintage bedroom suite that is in the french provincial style.  I painted it light blue and i LOVE it.

We haven’t really bought much furniture.  Right now we’re in an apartment and we just moved what we already had.  We did buy a pretty amazing bean bag from sumo lounge which acts as our temporary couch until we move out of here and into a house.  We didn’t see the point in buying fancy pants furniture when we don’t plan to be here in this apartment long term.  We’ll buy some new stuff when we move into a house.  =D
