I just bought the tulle for my fingertip-length veil yesterday! (Silk Tulle from Britex)
I’m planning on making a drop veil trimmed in alencon lace. The next time I get paid I’ll get the alencon lace from Vogue Fabrics Store, as they have coordinating/matching lace fabric I can use for additional appliques.
I’m spending a pretty penny on this but I hope that it will be an heirloom piece, plus I’d spend a lot buying a similar veil (in either nylon illusion or silk tulle!) anyway.
http://www.sposabellalace.com/ – nice lace selection, they also have silk tulle
http://www.housefabric.com/ – nice lace selection

Exciting! I wish I was crafty, be sure to post a picture when it’s complete.

@Anise: Let me know how this turns out! I want to do the same 🙂 Thanks for the tips on the lace…I couldn’t find anywhere that I liked!

@Anise: Just saw your post about your veil on another thread and thought I’d go see if you had any other posts about your veil rather than hijacking that thread. I want to do the same thing, make my own veil out of silk tulle, and I’m leaning towards 72″ round like yours, but I’m not sure yet. I’m going to make some practice ones from nylon tulle and see what length/width looks best with my dress.
Did you go to Britex in person or order online? How beautiful is the silk tulle? 🙂 My Fiance lives in SF so I’m planning on making him take me to the store sometime.
I’ll have to keep an eye out for updates and pictures of your veil when you finish it!
