We’d have to see your hair to know.. Every box of dye has a different base color, just like you used the ash. Whatever dye they put in it when you had done was not ash… The two bases made a grey color and not what you normally get. You should probably call your girl or maybe someone at a Sally’s could help

@Glow girl:  ash has a gray/green base, when you put it on top of highlighted hair it picks up the base of the color you applied. If you put a brown with a red tint on top of it, it will balance the ash out and look just dark brown again.

is it too blonde? if so go buy a ‘purple’ shampoo. it helps with the brassiness of the blonde.

Thats the kind I used.. I got it at Sally’s about 10 bucks. Its really drying though so get a leave in conditioner, leave in serum or something.

When your hair is lightened, it removes all the base pigmentation. You need to cover it up with a neutral base color, not ash. Sometimes colors labeled neutral are actually on the ashy side, so you may want to add a bit of a golden shade to it, too.

Baking soda in shampoo will remove some of the ashiness.. Also, any treatments made to remove hard water deposits on hair may work. If you don;t have a license, you can go to Sally Beauty Supply and buy one made by Ion. It’s in a little packet and you mix it with warm water.

What will instantly do it is a little blob of powder bleach mixed with 20 volume mixed into shampoo. You can usually see it lighten up right before your eyes, sometimes just a minute. This isn’t great for the texture of your hair, but it’s not too bad if you don;t leave it on long and condition like crazy afterwards.
