@LibrarianTellsAll: Your post made me smile – but I DO think it looks super pretty! Looking forward to your recap!

As for the posted question, I was set on white, blue and red as our colours. Red and white because DH is Canadian (plus white ties everything together) and blue because I’m Swedish. So I used these colours when I painted our invitations:

Then I was set on getting lanterns for our center pieces – but I didn’t like the white lanterns I found at IKEA and knowing that we were getting married in rural northern Sweden I knew I pretty much had to pick something from IKEA or scrap the lanterns altogether. Ended up getting these ones:

Which changed the colours somewhat…

While I bought matching fabric for the napkin rings to tie it together, I did go with cornflowers as I had originally planned (and incorporated in the invitations, programs and favors):

However, I did scrap the red as I thought it became too messy including it. My mum didn’t agree with this choice, she thought that it looked too flat without it, but I’m happy with the choices I made and I think it worked out really well even though the colours were not the exact ones I had pictured at first.

I like orange, he likes blue. They happen to be complimentary colors. I threw in some burgundy and gold, too, for an eclectic multicultural theme (Indian, Moroccan, Greek).

Ours were purple and orange. Purple because I love LSU football, and orange because he loves UT football. So, the purple and orange wedding it was!

The girls wore purple dresses, with purples flowers and orange ribbon:

When my fiance gave me a yellow gold engagement ring, I knew I needed my wedding to strongly feature gold. I have seriously become obsessed and all because of my ring. I really wanted my BMs in a pastel mint and have soft peach/pink accents but finding Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses i loved was HARD. I finally found a style I loved but didn’t love any of the colours. I really wanted super soft washed out pastels. The only really nice colour the Bridesmaid or Best Man dress came in was a soft pink, even though I was originally ANTI having pink as a main colour in my wedding.

But that’s how it worked out. so now my wedding is ivory, gold with pops of soft pink and soft mint 🙂

I hope it will look as beautiful as I’m imagining!!!

@msmaddox:  I chose Alfred Sung dresses for my BMs too – and let them choose whatever style they wanted! We went with the mango color.  We had shades of orange and yellow for our colors. Very bright and happy!

@MrsBaldEagle:  I absolutely love the idea of letting my girls choose their own style. I have 8 maids who are different shapes and sizes. I also have one maid who is in a Conservative Christian church, so she must have cap sleeves. I feel like they can wear whatever makes them feel comfortable and confident 🙂

Red black and white, because I didn’t want girlish colours in my wedding, and I knew my Fiance would love it since he is from Trnidad and that is their flag colours. I thought the colours would be bold and fun for a party, and classic (so I don’t regret the colours in years down the road) .

I added shades of gold to the colour pallet (not all gawdy shiny gold), I accepted any colour from metalic to champaign. I felt like I needed to soften up the colour pallet a little and white wasn’t enough.

Red uplighting made a awesome party atmospher, but the tables (sorry no pics yet) had gold chargers and mostly white flowers (with some red on some tables) so that was softer to look at.

I picked blush (my dress color) and a light green for our colors because they are my favorite. We will be carrying them throughout the whole wedding. We are doing a very vintage and feminine/glam 1950’s theme. Our wedding is a candle light garden ceremony, so the colors blend well!

@AmandaJK:  Beautiful purple dresses!  I will say though those girls and that bride could wear ANY color and make that pic look amazing!  Every bridesmaid is skinny and gorgeous as well as the bride!  I am sure you and your women are just as pretty as these ladies, if not more beautiful:) but keep that in mind, that the ppl in the pic also make it look breathtaking:)

@mylittleviolett:  Your colors sound a lot like mine.  My theme is southern elegance, chic, whimsical, romantic! haha Everything right?!  I finally decided on blush(pearl pink), champagne, white, light orange, and I am thinking about throwing in some lavender.  My inspiration is all the celeb weddings and royal wedding that do nuetral colors.  Well that’s because it looks so regal and elegant, so I know I wanted muted colors that weren’t bold at the beginning.  My bridesmaid will be in champagne and pink dresses to compliment my white.  I really liked fushia and dark blue, but it makes the bridesmaid stand on so much next to my dress, lol and I wanted it to compliment my white not take away from it:)

Our colors are peach and a kind of sagey green (the green of the succulents) with hints of lavender and chocolate brown. Inspired by this picture

Here’s my trial centerpiece that I put together
