I am rarely in favor of going into debt for a wedding but in one friends case I thought it was a great idea. they literally have NO extra money. They never go out to eat, can barely pay their bills, walk to work etc. I encouraged her to buy the $50 wedding dress we found at a yard sale that fit her perfectly even though this would mean they cantt pay their phone bill this month. I have already contacted all her gal pals and we are throwing her a birthday party next weekend and will make surethat $50 is covered. They are also going to cover the essentials like wedding night lingerie, hair comb, veil, trip to get nails done, hair done etc. So if you are that poor going into debt is sorta unavoidable. They will end up having to put their marriage license on their newly acquired credit card. All us gals are already trying to figure out how much money we can squeeze out of our own budgets to host a potluck reception at the church. Situations like these make me extremely grateful for Fiance having such a good job. I am so blessed!

Weddings are wayyyyyy too comersialized just like Valenitne’s Day or a Christmas. It’s a shame. All the wedding tv shows are about having it over the top!
In all honesty I think people forget what it is really about. There is nothing wrong with having a nice celebration but there is no need for a Red Carpet event ,over the top wedding. No wonder divorces rate goes up along with the prices of wedding.
I am absolutely nto judging anyoen who is having 100 000$ wedding or wanting something real nice. Please dont take it personally. I do think though that Weddings nowadays are way too comersialized and brides trying to leave up to those expectations.
I dont think 20 years ago every Bride had a personal make up artist and hair dresses as a “must have”. Now its a no brainer. It is unfortunate that our society had put such a hugh standarts for a wedding while havign no standarts for married life and keeping your marriage together.
I had a wedding with a 60 people had absilutely everythign I wanted including beautiful venue , fresh flowers ,open bar, sit down meal etc. Our budget including everything was 4,500 $ .I woudl not change a thing and would not do it any other way. And am very proud of having my dream wedding on a tight budget ! It is duable if you are opne minded and dont buy into all of this you “must have this and that” crap every vendor will tell you.
P.S our guests were very generous with their gifts and our wedding pretty much paid itself in full.
