Ours is a Monday just because it’s a destination wedding. Most guests will be there Saturday-Saturday, so we wanted time to get settled, but wanted time to celebrate/have a little honeymoon after.

We had a Friday wedding and almost everyone that we wanted to attend was able to make it. The key is early communication so that people can request time off if necessary.

We did save thousands of dollars through various discounts thanks to a Friday wedding and it wasn’t at all a hassle to plan.

Mine was a Saturday. It was a little hard to plan because we had to have it a little later since we are Jewish. No, we didn’t save money by having it on a Saturday. A few people were concerned that it started later (7:30, which honestly isn’t even that late and if you followed the actual Jewish calendar as to when sundown starts, on our wedding date it was around 9:30). We invited ~400 and had about 250 come. We had 6 no shows.

Saturday night.  Everyone is super excited.

That might just be because of the open bar though Wink

Sunday for me. Planning was way easier, several things were cheaper, I had NO problems booking vendors for June on short notice. There were two other decent-sized weddings going on in our small downtown the same weekend (using the same 2 hotels, and guests frequenting the same restaurants and bars for after-parties, etc). and we never felt cramped by them at all, but I heard they had some problems with each other.

The downside was I did have 2 people who couldn’t make it because they couldn’t get off work for Monday morning. But, since I have some friends who work Saturdays, it’s just as likely a couple of them might not have been able to take the day off to travel for a Saturday wedding, so I figure that probably came out even.

Saturday night (there were no discounts to having it on a Friday or Sunday or any other night).  We had a great turnout!

Ours was Saturday starting mid-afternoon and running ’til after midnight. Weddings in the UK generally start during the day.

Ours was a Saturday morning ceremony, afternoon/brunch reception and then we invited all of our guests (about 100) back to our home for a catered, very casual dinner.

We didn’t have a single issue that people claim Friday wedding couples will run into. Everyone was there with time to spare and those who declined the invitation, wouldn’t have been able to attend regardless of day.

The only place that we saved any money was with the venue and that’s only because we wouldn’t have met the minimums for a Saturday event. No other vendors offered any discounts for getting married on a Friday.
