This is my very first post, so I hope I’m doing this right. I just got engaged on Tuesday (yay!), and I’m VERY excited to start planning (especially because I’m a teacher, and this means a non-school-related project), but I have gotten NO sleep since the proposal. Last night and the night before I woke up repeatedly in the middle of the night after having wedding nightmares—either my dress doesn’t fit, or I find out the day of that nothing has been paid for, etc. I’m guessing this is a pretty normal thing.. but I need some validation. This will go away… right?

@laustin85: LOL I’m surprised you’re having them so early on in the planning. I’ve been engaged since June 2012 and getting married August 2013 and have had 2 wedding nightmares since February lol. The first one was that I forgot to write my vows and the second one was that my FI’s vows sounded like a business agreement and the pastor didn’t show up haha. Not sure if they go away until the wedding is over but you’re definitely not alone!

Congrats on your engagement!!!
I’ve only had 1 wedding related dream. Fiance is a designer and has done ALL paper related stuff for the wedding and he tends to wait until the very last minute and in my dream we walked into the reception and the only people who were there were our immediate families b/c he never designed the invites and sent them out. Awful, but so unrealistic!
Hopefully once you get into the crazyness of planning those dreams don’t get worse!

Based on my experience, this is completely normal! I felt anxious and couldnt sleep the night we got engaged because I couldn’t stop thinking about wedding stuff! I was so happy and excited, however, I started having these wedding nightmares where everything goes wrong. It has gotten better now that we have picked most of our vendors and are completely confident in their abilities, but sometimes your subconscious mind crates these crazy situations that would never actually happen!! It’s so crazy how our minds work!
One of my nightmares was that I completely forgot to order flowers until the day of the wedding and it was too late and we didn’t have any flowers. Another dream I had, our venue had no food and we had to make frozen pizzas an appetizers for the guests! My fiance thinks its pretty funny actually since he knows how silly this is and would never actually happen!

Thanks, everyone! I think part of my anxiety is definitely stemming from having not had the “budget talk” yet. Still trying to figure out how to bring it up. Sigh.

@laustin85: Of course, stay on WB. There are so many wonderful ladies here to keep you sane. But also check out the blog and book called A Practical Wedding. Both will help you not get caught up in the Wedding Industrial Complex and help you plan what you want not what everyone tells you you need.

I got engaged in Feb and have had one wedding nightmare- I’d ordered the wrong dress and didn’t realise until the big day it wasn’t my dream dress, and I needed a wig because my hair had been cut too short!!! I find it quite funny actually 🙂
