- Wedding: April 2018
Today marks THREE WEEKS until we get married! I’m posting here to the “Elopements” page because that was the start to our idea for marriage. It has more evolved into a very intimate private ceremony with 9 people in total being involved…and that includes bride and groom.
We decided together back in January of this year that we wanted to be married. And while talking about the logistics of getting married we both realized that we did not want a real wedding (which wasn’t surprising to either of us as we do not like being the center of attention). My family is very small and all in the same state and his family is also small but live far away and are not close with him. When he moved to this state when he was 18 he created his PNW family for himself here. I am 28 and he is 35 and we are just ready to start the rest of our lives together in as simple a way as possible.
At first we were going to each have a friend as our witness and that would be all attending but then realized that wasn’t what we really wanted. My fiance will have his best friend there as his witness, along with his best friend’s wife. Our officiant will be my fiance’s boss (who is the closest thing he has to a father figure and very special). My witness will be my mom (who is my best friend), along with my dad and my sister. And then we also have an amazing photographer who will be there to take beautiful photos for us to remember the day.
We are getting married on my late Grandfather’s birthday, April 3rd. Which is a Tuesday, but you can do that sort of thing with such a small wedding. We have given up control of the location of the ceremony to our photographer and will meet up with her and she will take us to the location day of. I told her I envisioned “something woodsy,” but I’ve told her that I trust her to pick someplace beautiful. We have a location that we will move to after the ceremony and a few pictures to take the last couple pictures as the sun is setting on a friend’s property with a gorgeous backdrop:
I’m really excited for my outfit. My fiance will be wearing black slacks and a black button up shirt. And my “dress” is a combination of the Jive top from BHLDN and a custom tulle skirt from an Etsy shop. I have been working hard to finish crocheting a cardigan to wear for part of the time (early April weather will probably still be in the 50s/60s where we are getting married) and my necklace is a gold bar necklace that my fiance got me for my birthday. It has my new initals on the front and the date of our wedding on the back.
This picture you can see I still haven’t finished the sweater entirely…all I need to do is tuck in the strings from tying off throughout the sweater. But I really like how it turned out!!
I will be doing my own hair and makeup which will just be simple. My makeup on a daily basis is usually just a little concealer, blush and mascara. I’ll be adding some eye shadow I’ve been practicing (getting better!) and a little highlighting too! Then I plan to just put my hair in a low messy bun with a pretty sparkly headband that makes it look a little more finished.
And last but not least…here are some ring shots!!
This is my beautiful engagment ring that I LOVE:
Here is my wedding band that I think really compliments my ering with its simplicity:
And here is my silicone ring that I ordered. I ordered one for my fiance as well that hasn’t come in yet but it’s black. We are hikers in the summer and these will be nice to wear when we are hiking!
And last but not least, here is a fun picture that I took of both of our rings when I got his in the mail. I’m so excited he’s going to LOVE it. His only request was that it be black. The white that you see is elk antler inlay!
Anyways…just super excited and wanted to share my details. 🙂
