I’ll play. Solly wrap for first three months and then Lilliebaby/Tula/ergo. I have all three and love them all. I love all cloud island target clothes. I have a huge baby and they fit amazingly. I got a baby lounger mine liked to nap in. I wouldn’t leave her alone in it though. A sound machine, static. A zipadee zip sleep suit 3+ months to transition out of a sleep sack. Mine rolled at 8 weeks. I love my bob stroller, too! Mine doesn’t like to be confined. But loves to be carried, so carriers are lifesavers! I still use my pack n play (10 months). She goes in it when I need to go to the restroom or need somewhere safe to place her. Study infant sleep now!! Congratulations!! I regret buying too much stuff I thought I needed. You really only need diapers, wipes and diaper cream. I had a winter baby and she lived in sleepers with swaddle.

Posh Peanut swaddles were my favorite blanket to swaddle in and I used a large Muslim swaddle as nursing cover. Light and way better to cover. More breathable.

Best things ever: Boppy newborn lounger (different than the regular pillow), SwaddleMe swaddles, Hatch sound machine, Simple Wishes handsfree pumping bra, infant optics sound machine, triple paste butt cream, Kindle for mom for middle of the night

Wastes: clothes (you end up with so much)…. um I can’t think of anything else.

sarathemermaid :  Bottles. Sounds weird to not include but my son hated the ones I got a got a huge pack of and I had to go buy one of a few differentt kinds to see which one he would take (ended up being Dr. Browns which all my friends recommended)

If your having a boy don’t get the peepee teepee totally useless and silly I just used a cloth!

I also recommend jsut sleepers with zippers. I dont even know why they make them with buttons anyways lol

I second the My Breast Friend breastfeeding pillow.

Muslin blankets are the best.

I also loved my Doc-a-tot. they acutally dont even sell them here in Canada anymore so i’m glad i have for my next baby

sarathemermaid :  my must have items were zippered footie PJs, swaddle blankets (she’s 2.5 and we still use them as a quick blanket, swaddling dolls, etc), keekaroo changer (no sheets!!) and my HAKKAA. If you are planning to breastfeed this thing is a lifesaver. You literally suction cup it on to your other boob while the baby eats and it catches all the leaking so you can save that milk! Also the snot sucker – it’s gross but it works.

Hmmm… are you putting any big ticket items on your registry? A carseat/stroller combo is a nice gift if multiple people want to go in together to get one. We also utilized a baby swing heavily in the first few months, my son loved his. If nothing else, add some bigger stuff for the completion discount!

Also, Diaper Genie and refill bags. Like everyone has said, all you need really are diapers and wipes but– all that needs to go somewhere and in the regular trash is going to stink to the high heavens.

sarathemermaid :  one thing I got at my shower which came in so handy was a baby medicine kit: thermometer, tempra, bum cream, teethers etc. The boogie sucker (ours was just the cheapie bulb type) was a life-saver for us. It was great to have this stuff on hand before we’d ever need it.

And don’t despair if you get button/snap sleepers. When they’re really little it’s only like 12 snaps and you can be a ninja to change a bum. Instead of unzipping and having a naked, cold newborn just unsnap the legs! It’s only with my daughter wearing those that I ever managed to change her bum without waking her.

Ollie swaddle is the best. Hushh sound machine. Taking Cara babies class. Baby bjorn bouncer is amazing! Someone loaned this to us. A good play mat (we have a skip hop one). The fisher price piano play mat. Boppy lounger. My baby is 10 weeks old and these are keeping me sane.

dreamreve1 :  even not in the MOTN the snaps are just a pain if the kid is wiggling and you mess it up. Also I’m jealous that you didn’t have to do MOTN diaper change duty lol. How do I get that for the next one??

Must Haves:

-sound machine, breastfeeding pillow (I too like the breast friend but had boppies also- which are helpful later for propping up), ZIP PJs, stroller that can convert to be a double (if you’re planning to have more than one child), washable breast pads (the disposables really irritated me), triple paste for diaper rash (I have 3 kids, hands down the most effective- though pinksalve is a close second), baby carrier (this is personal preference but I liked the moby for newborn and the bijorn for 3 mos plus), aden and anais bamboo swaddles (we use them for everything, except swaddling), velcro swaddles, cheapo bouncy seat (we have had them all- from super pricey, to 20 dollar- the 20 dollar version was the winner with all three kids hands down), car seat cover (if you live in a cold climate)

Didn’t need/use:

-mittens- the newborn onsies almost all have foldover sleeves, bottle warmer (took too long), expensive swing/bouncer, etc, clothes (outside of PJs- this got worse the more kids I had- my 4 month old has literally never been in pants (third baby…)), sleep sacks (we preferred the swaddles), anything that warms (wipes, diapers, etc.), breast pump sterilizer stuff (I just threw mine in the dishwasher)

I’m sure there are other things, but I’ve had three kids and can’t remember anything anymore 🙂  Congratulations!
