It guessed I was in Montgomery,AL which is pretty close. I’m on the Mississippi coast. I think I few of my answers threw it off because I don’t say certain typical “southern” words.

Although I grew up in the midwest, I lived in Boston after I graduated from college. My survey still says Boston or Providence. I even went back and tried to think very hard about what I said as a kid, and it still comes up Boston. My DH still teases me about the accent (which I never though I had) slipping through, even many years later. I guess something about it just stuck.

And I am STILL puzzling over Mary, merry, and marry… DH says they’re the same, but… they’re not. I teach literacy and we have a book suggesting in one lesson to point out how cot and caught are the same, except I can’t; they’re different.

futuremrspk :  I just need to point out that they knew exactly what I was talking about in Boston when I said bubbler! That must be one of the only other places that knows the term, as even in far northern WI/MN they don’t know what bubbler means.

Holy Cow!!! This quiz didn’t just nail my region, it pegged my small hometown. That is crazy!

echomomm :  I’m with your husband on Mary, marry, and merry — all the same. But with you on cot and caught — so different! I want to ask the people who pronounce them the same, are they both pronounced like cot, or both like caught? How do these people prounounce “got”?

I did this for fun even though I’m Canadian lol. My results were Buffalo and Seattle which is funny because they’re both so close to the border. I’m about 2 hours across the border from Buffalo
