I was just thinking the other day about how much my vision for my wedding has changed since I have actually started to plan my wedding!
Before getting engaged, I always assumed I would have a wedding with bright colors, literary elements, play pop punk music, and have the goomsmen wear Vans sneakers (haha). My Pinterest board looked like a total pastiche of entirely different things that didn’t make sense together.
Now that we are actually getting married and I have to have a more organized vision, we are essentially throwing a black tie affiar. The men will be wearing formal classic tuxes, the ladies will be wearing long gowns. Any color that I’m bringing in is from a totally neutral palette. We are having a live band! Everything about it has totally changed.
Did anyone else experience this? If so, what did you picture before and what are you planning now?!

for sure! While I don’t think my changes have been as extreme as yours I’ve defentitly been making some big changes. I’m realizing I want things that I didn’t think I did, I def changed my colors up a bit. I think the biggest thing is I realized how important it is to have the wedding be about us and our likes not have things just because they are in style this wedding season. while Pinterest has been helpful I’m finding that I’m steering away from most of my original pins because they no longer feel unique or special, just trendy.

My vision has totally changed. After first getting married, we were going to go to Hawaii and do a blue themed wedding. Although, we later switched it up to Punta Cana, DR and changed the color to red. Huge, huge difference! LOL. Even looking at my Pinterest boards, so much has changed.

Oh yes!

Before getting engaged (and for awhile afterwards), we were convinced we wanted a beach wedding with a light color palette and an outdoorsy feel. Now, we’re getting married in downtown Boston with a navy/gold color scheme and very formal attire. It’s definitely different, but so much more us. While I’m sure a beach wedding would have been beautiful, we love the idea of showing the city we love off to all our family and friends who don’t live nearby. And we don’t have to worry about the weather, so that’s a plus!

Yes, a lot of the ideas/colors I liked before planning just wouldn’t look nice in our venue. I still think it will be a lovely wedding, even if it isn’t what I initially imagined!

When Fiance and I were first talking about getting married I started looking at wedding things. First I loved having different shades of light purples with some green mixed in for the decor and flowers. And I was thinking of blue shoes. Once we got engaged and set a date I completely changed it! Now its deep reds and purples with grey neutrals. And my shoes are wine. I did get a dress just like the ones I liked though 🙂

- Wedding: June 2014 - Gold Hill Gardens
Ours hasn’t changed much. I really wanted to do a weekend wedding, but it wasn’t in the budget. We found an awesome venue, though, and have worked out a way to split the ceremony and reception so that we can still have the laid-back feeling of a weekend wedding, but at the cost of a one day wedding. The general feel hasn’t changed at all.

Lol mine has completely changed…. the colors I originally wanted were navy and lime, we are at plum and ivory now…. I wanted a small and very intimate wedding, I have a guest list the size of a small town (520), I wanted 3 bridesmaids, I have 10…. yeah my Fiance had a completely different idea than me lol
