Recently engaged now but the filigree sapphire band was my promise ring, and the fleur de lis was my RHR

This is the engagement ring that took it’s place.

I wouldn’t call it a promise ring per se. I’m 40 and he’s 44. He bought it for me a few months into our relationship. We are both born on the same day in March so he got an aquamarine ring.  He said he bought it because I’m a kind and beautiful person with a good heart and that I deserve to wear something beautiful.  I asked him what finger he wanted me to wear it on and he said my left. That he wanted everyone to know I’m off the market. Lol. I was more than happy to oblige.  We’ve been together for 7.5 months now.

This isn’t really a promise ring, but it is a simple ring I liked that he bought while we were on vacation a year and a half ago. I wear it everyday on my left finger. I bought him a ring to wear on the same vacation and he wears it on his left finger too. This is from Pandora. It’s silver with a gold heart. I’m a size 7.  My hand is on his.

luckyladylaterinlife35:  I loved reading this, not for the horrible experience you’ve gone through but for the fact you have learned/grown from it. Great reason to purchase yourself a promise ring. Best promise you can ever make. Best wishes for your future.

MJ2017:  thanks a lot!  This time of year has been incredibly hard for me,  especially considering that this is the first holiday season in my adult life I’ve been single.  I split custody of my four children with my ex husband,  and for Christmas break this year,  they were with him and I only saw them long enough to exchange gifts, so for sure it was tough, but every time I look at this ring,  I’m reminded that I’m valuable and worthy of a person who will love and respect me and my children, and not to EVER settle!  🙂 plus. …..it’s shiny, hehe!  😀

It’s nice to see others who attach significant meaning to certain pieces of jewelry.  Irl, I don’t know many people who do,  so they think I’m crazy. ……so keep em coming girls!  I love that when I eventually give/ leave this ring to my daughter,  it will have been on quite a journey that I can share with her;  both physically and emotionally!

I personally love promise rings. Here is the one my fiancé gave to me when we were not quite ready for an engagement but were very commited to each other and knew engagement was in the close future.

Here’s mine! Christmas present from SO. Dating for 6 months. I’ve no interest in being married until I’ve graduated college. I love my ring. Screw off promise ring haters! ☺️

Mine is very simple. Ive always had a ring from my boyfriend. the first one he gave me wore out then the second one I had I ruined in a bad microbiology lab experiment that involved some nasty bacteria!! And then I had another that the diamonds kept falling out of and now I have this simple ring. It is perfect while I wait for my engagement ring☺️
