Hotornot, from back when people had a little more fun being superficial. He definitely didn’t belong there for dating but it was just one of those things we all did for laughs in college that later became a dating site too. All I remember of the first convo was asking if he really never smiled for pics, which is what his profile said.

We met on Tinder! And on our first date he awkwardly asked me why I ignored him on POF 😂 He had written me a really nice letter, detailing his comprehensive grasp of the English language which was something I had stated on my POF profile lol… something like “ if you’re going to message me please demonstrate your comprehensive grasp of the English language.” He did just that but his message got lost in the shuffle of ridiculousness from other men like “Sup?” and I lost track of it. Fortunately we both matched on Tinder too and the rest is history!

CapitolBee :  We met on OkCupid. I almost didn’t talk to him again after our first conversation because he lived four hours away in another state. But I got bored at work and chatted him up. Best decision of my life.

We met online but it wasn’t a dating site. The first time I ever actually talked to him was on AIM. But we met because of GaiaOnline

Tinder.  I was over 2 years into dating and was about over it as I hadn’t met anyone worth my time.  Well I met some nice people and had nice dates, but not the long term relationship type.

Then one fateful night, I had just finished up a project at home, showered, poured a glass of wine and saw that I had a message.

We chatted for maybe an hour and then decided to meet up for a drink.  We had 4 dates that first week.  And the rest is history.

oh shit!  I started writing and forgot the most important part.  The first message from him was “Nice boat pug.”  And I said “she’s not a fucking pug.”  Because she isn’t!  She’s a French Bulldog. We both laughed and it’s still a joke between us.

    Dr_dazzle :  Niiiceee!!

I have a similar story, mine wasn’t a dating site, but my dad invited me to a teamspeak server that he (as in my now SO) was in, and we got chummy from there while we played League of Legends and such, I guess. Although it took a few years, it was worth it :3

We met on OkCupid.  I can’t remember who messaged who first.  But he definitely asked me out first.  Our first date was in November 2016 at a huge botanical garden.  He got our tickets and we walked around and talked for hours.  It was pretty cold that day, and some of the gardens were inside beautiful temperature controlled buildings.  We walked around outside and inside talking for hours.  The cold temperature outside gave us a good reason to hold hands…

After the gardens, we didn’t want to say goodbye and for the date to be over yet, so he drove us in his car (we met at the gardens because hello, meeting a stranger from the internet), to a nearby Mexican restaurant.  We enjoyed the food and each other’s company some more.  Then he drove me back to the gardens to get my car and before I got out, we shared our first kiss, on our first date.

We had our second date the very next day when we went to see Arrival in theaters.  Now here we are, 2 years and 3 months later, living together, and getting engaged soon.

Like a couple of the other Bees here, I met my SO online but not on a dating site. We met on TwitchTV, a site where people can stream video games and watch other people play them. We were in the same community for a while then got talking on a one to one basis. Initially, I told him nothing would ever happen between us because he lived too far away! We now live together and are engaged 🙂

Met on OkCupid after I expanded my search distance from within 20/25 miles to 50 miles. I’m pretty sure I wrote to him first and said something along the lines of, “It’s nice to see a decent-looking childfree guy on here!” (He had mentioned having had a vasectomy on his profile, and I also had a sterilization surgery scheduled, so childfree-ness was the top of the list of things I wanted in a guy.) I didn’t remember the “decent-looking” part, but he did and reminded me of it after we got engaged. So I actually included that as an inside joke when I wrote my vows. I had written how lucky I felt to be marrying someone so smart, hardworking, talented, kind, ambitious, patient, and. . .decent-looking. I think he’s incredibly handsome and thought so when I saw his profile, but I didn’t want to come on too strong and go, “Hey sexy man! Sup?!”
