Just for fun-
I’m curious as to what a standard engagement time is. I’m sure it depends on beliefs, age, etc, so please feel free to explain what you chose, then why and how you decided on the length of your engagement. Thanks!

19 months, so just about 1.5 years.

about 13 months! We had a destination wedding so we wanted to make sure that everyone who wanted to come had enough time to plan and save!

6 months here. I voted 0-6. We were engaged in March and are getting married in a little over two weeks. We saw no reason to have a longer engagement because we’re having a simple wedding and have been together for 8 years.

just over 7 months. it was the perfect amount of time for me.

18 months! We decided we wanted to do our weding over Labor Day and I knew I couldn’t get it all together in 6 months, so we waited for the next year. We had a fairly large and very DIY wedding and I don’t know how we could have done it in less than a year!

- Wedding: May 2015 - Walnut Hill Bed & Breakfast
Ideally it’d have been closer to 12 months but it will be 10 months (July 20 to May 30). My parents are paying for the wedding and will only do so if we don’t move in together first (ugh parents). We close on our house at the end of September and I’ll live there until after the wedding. So, that’s why we planned the wedding for as early as possible in the season I wanted.

7 months. Perfect amount of time to prep and plan and not enough time to obsess over details. I highly recommend this amount of time for an engagement. 🙂

Mine falls right between 2 categories at 1 year, 10 months, I voted 2 years.

9 months. 🙂 Everything’s going smoothly so far and I think the momentum is great – excited but not stressed, the perfect balance.

We are right at 18 months! Currently nearing the 1 year left mark, we are so excited. Shorter would have been nice, but I’m in grad school until May so this is just what worked best for us!

swonderful: Mine had nothing to do with age, beliefs, etc. We were waiting for a season!

My engagement is at 2 and a half years now. We’re choosing to have a long engagement as we’re both really young and we don’t need to rush anything. We’ll probably get married as soon as we finish school and can afford a home. I’m 20 and he’s 22. We may do the legal marriage later this year and the wedding after school is finished. I can go slooow and steady on the wedding planning 🙂
