SoonToBeMrsT16:  lol that’s funny. In the early 2000s I used to wear north face coats in my predominantly white high school and a bunch of people said it looked ghetto. I think they meant “urban?” Anyway, glad it has evolved over time.

I have 3, but I feel I should have a trench as well. I have a short, black (faux) leather jacket. I have a long, charcoal grey wool coat. And my warmest jacket is long, black puffer with a giant fur hood. 🙂

bluesparkles:  Columbia soft shell in black. Water resistant and thermal lined. Just got it recently. I wear a lot of Columbia, so I’m sure this will do the trick. I also have a black Guess pea coat for the dressy occasions.

My favourite is my trench coat, followed by my leather trench coat (I have thing for trench coats lol) and my thick woollen coat.

bluesparkles:  Really it depends on how cold or stormy it is. I start the winter in a wool pea coat and transition to my warmer/longer wool coats with furry collars and then the super warm down filled coat.

I have a mid butt length peacoat that I wear on special occassions, but my go to jacket is a parka that goes like mid thigh, its a green/brownish color with a removable hood and I love it !!

I’m just outside of Toronto so I  have a Canada Goose parka that goes to my knees. I have a cream coloured dress coat and a black coat that’s sort of middle ground with a sideways zipper and fur on the hood. Already chilly!!

bluesparkles:  I live in a place where winter doesn’t exist.  Just kidding, I usually get away with wearing just a columbia jacket.  When I was pregnant I just wore cardigans, nothing else fit.

I wear a long puffer/parka most days during the winter. I live in NW Ohio and winters are brutal. I found a Calvin Klein parka super cheap at TJ Maxx a few years ago, and I love that thing. I’ll wear it until it falls apart.

It’s still too warm here for winter coats (mid-low 50s/high 40s), so I’ve been wearing my hooded North Face fleece.

I’m a coat fiend! If I could own ten winter coats I would, but I currently am wearing a ski style jacket for what is supposed to be a very cold winter.

bluesparkles:  I replied “other”. My winter coat is a Columbia brand coat, it’s short but not a pea coat or thermal. It’s a waterproof coat with thinsulation. It also has a sort of tie around the bottom to tighten it so that air can’t get up inside, it has a hood as well. I’ve had it for two years and it’s still in mint condition, I’m frugal and expect to have it for at least 10 more years- Fiance has a similar Columbia coat. We live in NYC – so it gets very cold here in the winter.

Man am I jealous of everyone who said they just wear a sweater or a fleece!!! I currently live in northern new england where the only options are a very long, very thick, very warm long down jacket or frostbite (-14F is nothing to mess around with).

Great topic. Short treadjack (sorry OP!) can anyone suggest which type of coat is the warmest to wear during winter? It doesn’t get really cold where I live (cold weathered noob), and whenever I happen to visit Europe in winter I always find myself still freezing! The coat I usually wear is a butt length wool trenchcoat. Is this not sufficient? Are parkas or puffer coats warmer? I dont really like bulky coats or ski jackets to walk around in because it doesnt really look good on me 🙁

I voted for a long puffer coat but I also have a black peacoat for when I dress up. I live in northern canada where it can get to as low as -50 celcius! My go to jacket is a knee length Helly Hansen made for the extreme cold and I love it! This jacket is the best, it’s so warm and cozy and that’s saying a lot when it’s cold enough outside to give you severe frost bite!

Im so jealous of you bees who have mild winters!
