Make sure you have permission from Darling Husband and anyone else in the shot before posting. It’s scary how much information you can find on someone with a little know-how. Even easier with certain software. Your loved ones need to be okay with having their photos online!

(I work for an Internet security company and I know a lot of the tricks the bad guys use. Scary stuff!)

Just a general warning for others who might want to join your thread. At least in FB you can sort of password-protect your page and make it so only your friends list can see it (still full of holes though). You don’t need to even have a WB account to see all these pages. It’s 100% wide open to anyone who wants to wander by!

Someone who knows what they’re doing can lift a lot of personal information off of a photo if it was taken with a digital camera, and using certain software they can cross-reference the faces in the photo with thousands of others, even if it’s not the same photo, to find your name. A little more digging can turn up even more personal information. Many banks/credit cards use “what was your best man/maid of honor’s name” or “where were you married” as their security questions, and from there it’s just a matter of figuring out which bank you use… I’m sticking to the really common stuff here and not any of the more complex scenes as to not give anyone any ideas.

Yes it sounds paranoid but Most identity theft is committed through social engineering, meaning, the bad guys tricking you into telling them your private info. Don’t make it too easy on them.

@fishbone: I had no idea about any of that. I feel like I need to remove all traces of my identity from the net now D:
