I am such an overpacker when it comes to vacations, but that hasn’t stopped me from shopping around for things I would love to have for the honeymoon (mostly clothes).
So, I thought it would be fun to see what the bees feel are the “essential” honeymoon items, whether or not they are practical.
Here are some of mine, for our Bahamas Cruise and Disney World honeymoon:
- Cute flip flops
- Oversized sunglasses
- A cute hat (still searching for one I can easy pack in a suitcase)
- 2 bathing suits (one piece and two piece, depending on my mood)
- Jersey Maxi dress, b/c it can function as a beach cover up or a dressy outfit

camera and extra batteries, sunscreen, extra pairs of sunglasses (I always lose mine)

essentials were: camera and extra batteries, camcorder, 3 bathing suits (so that you never have to wear a wet bathing suit), plastic ziploc bags so that you can take back your wet clothes with no problem, lots of sunscreen!

My two cameras + extra batteries, chargers, lenses
a few good books to lounge with.

Also a camera and dresses for fancy nights out. (we are doing a winter honeymoon rather than a beach honeymoon).

@PitBulLover: Did you really just give me permission to buy another bathing suit? 🙂
I left some things off my list, but I suppose I should add Aveeno SPF 100+ for face (Seriously… no sunburns up in this house), my camera, and my “little secret” for thigh chaffing- Pure Romance’s “Pure Pleasure” silicone based lubricant. I’m not joking, ladies, this stuff is will make you forget thigh chaffing ever existed… plus it’s waterproof, and you can also use it in your hair when you flat iron. 🙂

@tinylittlebird: lol yes! You should pack 3 bathing suits so that each one can dry between wears – reduces chances of getting any sort of infection from your bathing suit because wet=bacteria growth. This is especially true if you are going somewhere with a ton of humidity. We went to Jamaica and it was so humid that as soon as I walked outside my glasses would fog up!

@PitBulLover: Well, then, I suppose that settles it! We’re going to the Bahamas in June (and Disney for a few days when our cruise gets back) so it’s going to be a lot of water and humidity.
I haven’t owned “good” bathing suits in a long time b/c I don’t go swimming very often, so I’ve already purchased 2 nice bathing suits for the honeymoon. You only go once, right? 🙂

Multiple bathing suits- I’ll go with PitBulLover’s minimum of three, SUNSCREEN, umbrella because sunscreen doesn’t always cut it.

I agree with everything that has already been mentioned but we’re also bringing a mini tripod so we don’t have to harrass people all the time to take photos of us. A decent sized one cost me like $15 at Target last week.

Let’s see: Aloe, Lip Balm with Sunscreen, 2 Beach Towels, a Mini-Lunch Bag to carry beverages in to the pool, an Underwater Camera, Swim Shoes, and KY (lol)!

@melisslp: HAHA! You just make me laugh so much! In seriousness, though, that last one is a pretty important thing to have- One of my best friends (and MOH) is a Pure Romance consultant, so I’ve learned all about the importance of lubrication from her (many) parties.
Good call on the underwater camera, too… I hadn’t even thought about that, and we might go snorkeling…. I’m going to see if I can find an inexpensive one.

@tinylittlebird – So glad I made you laugh!! It’s something that you’ll definitely need and appreciate! I bet they’ve got some great things at Pure Romance, eh?! You can get a cheap underwater camera at Target. The quality isn’t superior, but they are nice to have. Definitely go snorkeling! Where are you going again??

My honeymoon essential was wedding cake 🙂
