BalletParker :  They are these fascinating things called transposons that can cut/paste themselves all over the genome! Very difficult to study because you have to track them down. 🧐

So many cool professions! I do HR & payroll for a grain terminal.

slomotion :  Friggen knew it!

ksks9876 & shadesofbay : I met the gf of one of SO’s old school friends who worked in the morgue of a hospital. When she told me her profession, my response was “Ohhhh COOOL!!”… then I got uncomfortable and asked if my reaction was weird lol. She said she either gets my reaction or people get really creeped out. I wouldnt be able to do the job, but I think it’s super neat.

Right now I have two careers – civil engineer (what my degree is in) and real estate agent.  My mom is a broker so I worked for her part time when I was in college and on breaks and when I got laid off from my engineering job a couple of years ago, went into real estate full time.  I then took a contract job with my old company and am doing both.  I’m pregnant and once the baby comes in January, I’m hoping to take about 6 months off then only do real estate and take over for my mom.

I am in grad school studying child development and family-related sciences. I just moved to a new city, where I’m going to be working a low level position as a paraprofessional in a school for K-12 kids who have “social and emotional disturbances”. I also got an amazing part time internship at a hospital, where I’ll be working with families in the pediatric ICU and pediatric emergency department. Getting closer to my dream job as a child life specialist, one teeny unpaid/barely-paid step at a time…

sandiegobee :  I️ am just a paralegal in big law (defense) and I️ have been dreaming of an in-house job for YEARS (they are extremely rare to come by in my area). I️ freaking hate billing time. Have to do a great job for our clients but can’t bill for anything you do. Ughhhh. And even as a paralegal our firm has 1700 annual requirement (associate is 2150…insane).
