As you may or may not know, Backstreet Boys are doing a 20th anniversary tour this summer (20 years already!). I’m going to a show this summer, and am super excited! Like, ridiculously excited to where my husband gets embarrassed when I talk about it to our friends…
Anyways, this got me wondering, what was the first CD, that you ever got (whether you bought or it was a gift), and how old were you? Or it could be a cassette, record, etc. Or all!
Mine was an N’Sync CD, No Strings Attached when I was 11ish. I still have it floating around somewhere today.

My first CD was the Spice Girls (their first one, not sure what it was called), which I purchased in 1997 (so I would have been around 11 or 12 years old). I still have it somewhere. I should dig it out, and listen to it for old time’s sake.

The single Crush by Jennifer Paige lol still know every word

I believe my first CD was Alanis Morissette’s “Jagged Little Pill”. I also got No Doubt’s “Tragic Kingdom” on the same day as it was Christmas, but I opened JLP first to be technical lol.

Oh man, I think like an 80’s mix cd or 90’s dance music. My first cassette was Alanis Morrisette Jagged Little Pill- I think (other than books on tape and Dsney mixes)
ETA: my first CD could have been Bill Harley’s “You’re in Trouble” a kids’ CD.

@Saria213: Haha one of your first CD’s was my first cassette. At 7-8 I don’t think my parents trusted me enough for CDs.

Hmm I’m not sure what the first one I owned was, but I remember the first one I was obsessed with was Mandy Moore’s So Real (1999). Before that, I didn’t really listen to ‘popular’ music, and barely knew the songs of Britney Spears, N’Sync, etc. (I was raised by British parents in California, with Scottish folk music, the Beatles, classical music…)

My first cassette was Micheal Jackson Dangerous. My first cd was Spice by Spice Girls. My most played song of my youth was Ironic, Alanis Morrissette.

My brother signed up for some CD club and got me a copy of Britney Spears’ Baby One More Time. I wasn’t even a Britney Spears fan.
