Ace of Base, The Sign album.

Yep.

I was in 5th grade. The second album I ever bought was Green Day’s Dookie. I think I redeemed myself there. Lol!

I’m going to extremely against the grain here. The first CD I ever paid for, mom had to buy it for me as it was +17 requirement to purchase, but it was Pantera-Vulgar Display of Power. Followed by a burned copy of Acid Bath-(can’t remember the name of the album but it had the clown artwork from Ed Guien…. Anyways. yeah, I was a metal head and thankfully my mother allowed me to embrace that side of me, no rebellion necessary. 🙂

I got a CD player for Christmas as a kid but had no CDs (guess my dad didn’t think that one all the way through) so I had to go buy something to play in it. I got Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey’s Musicbox at the same time.

@Twyla_Smith:  How has it been 20 years? Because that would make me old and I refuse to entertain that thought.

The first CD I ever bought as Ace of Base – The Sign. I still have it. Haters gonna hate, but that album ROCKS!

@Twyla_Smith:  Oh, I’m pretty sure it was the original Spice Girls CD. Maybe it was Hootie and the Blowfish Cracked Rear Mirror. Or was it that Ace of Base CD (Beautiful Life?)? I don’t particularly remember TBH but it was definitely one of those, I’m sure. I was 10 (and to tell you the truth still enjoy Hootie and Ace of Base. And oh come on Spice Girls was so popular.

The first CD I remember being bought (used) for me was Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation. The first CD I saved up my allowance for was Smashing Pumpkin’s Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.

Mariah Carey’s Daydream was my first CD. I think my first cassette was Soul Asylum – the one with “Runaway Train” on it.

@AnneTossy:  Oh gosh seeing this CD brings back so many memories! I loved that album and used to listen to it nonstop in middle school.

Haha I love this thread. Mine was LeAnn Rimes “Unchained Melody: The Early Years”.

Of course, I didn’t listen to that CD for long and quickly moved on to Britney Spears, the Backstreet Boys and N’Sync! 🙂
