I just thought this might be a fun topic and that it might be interesting to see just how bad some hotels can get. My worst experience happened on a road trip from Washington, DC to NYC to Boston with my husband, his mom, and his brother.
We did leave DC later than we expected but we all agreed that it was fine and we would just check into our hotel outside of NYC late at night and go to sleep when we got in. To be fair, we didn’t pay much for the hotel but it still wasn’t a good experience.
We get inside and they’re kind of being rude to us but whatever, it’s almost midnight, we wouldn’t want to be working either. The halls are kind of musty and smell like moth balls while also having this creepy look to them. This, again, was something we could over look.
We get into the room and we realize the rooms are connecting rooms which is weird but the door is locked and the table was in front of it. Then we notice that one of the lamps is broken. The prongs on the plug were stuck in the outlet but the rest of the plug was detached from the prongs. The next morning is when things really started to be fun though.
When we woke up, we were just sitting there before showering and we notice there are blood stains on one of the pillows (luckily we slept on our own pillows) and some blood stains on the floors. Weird. When I went to shower though, I was confronted with one of my biggest fears. The bathroom was completely stark white which I hate already. I got in the shower though and made it quick. But when I got out, the door would not open so I knocked telling them to open it. I was stuck in that bathroom for a few minutes which completely freaked me out.
Then we get ready and go downstairs. My husband’s brother and his mom go to get the ticket for the shuttle into the city while we get a table in the breakfast area. They were very rude while we were trying to buy a shuttle ticket but it was done. Then I notice that my coffee mug has lipstick on it. Gross. So I ended up getting a prepackaged muffin and we just decided to do lunch early.
The day went fine in NYC, it was fun. We called around 7pm to see if we could change our shuttle time from 9 to 10. The guy was rude and said no. We asked if there was room on the 10pm shuttle and he said yes but we can’t change. Why? He said because we booked the 9pm. He ended up letting us get on the 10pm but actually hung up on us.
We would have switched hotels had we spent more than two nights there but there was no reason since it was such a short amount of time. We definitely have that hotel on our radar as a place to avoid. What’s your worst hotel experience?
Edit: Also, I got stuck in that bathroom every time I went in there which I was not a fan of.
