I’m just curious. We’re trying to eat more lean meats around here, but nothing compares to a perfect steak….

Nothing says Heaven like a big, juicy ribeye steak cooked medium/medium well……
we use ground turkey in place of ground beef. for most recipes you can’t really tell the difference.
i know what you mean about a good steak though! we eat it rarely for both budget and health reasons. if you like fish, tuna steaks can be a pretty good substitute if you want it more often.
I tend to prefer chicken or fish when I get in a carnivorous mood. In general, though, I go for beans when I need protein. Not a huge fan of meat.
I voted for beef. It’s what I eat most often… and I love me a good filet mignon. But I do also really love both lamb and veal if they are cooked properly. I’m Greek and grew up eating a lot of family recipes with lamb and veal so I’m sort of snobby about how other people prepare them : ) I think it’s SO weird that people put mint jelly on lamb. Seriously.. what is that about?!
Me and turkey are best friends. With beef close in second. Mmm. Now I want a big juicy steak.
I have to say I’m definitely a meat girl… I love most all types of meat, but I could not live without my beef. yyuuuum.
My runner up is pork. It may even be a tie. I love bacon. It’s the best thing ever. Actually, you know what’s better? Filet mignon. Cow wrapped in pig. LOL!
Lamb and Pork. I eat a lot of pork chops in place of beef, much leaner.
@Bakerelle- I’ve never had filet mignon! Can you taste the bacon melding with the beef?
@Kitzy- I know! Steak is so darn expensive, but maybe that’s why it feels like such a treat when we can eat em!
For me it depends on how it’s prepared and the cut. I’m not a huge fan of filet, but I love ribeye, skirt and flank steak. I love pork chops but not pork belly. And chicken usually tastes pretty dry to me, so it has to be juicy and have lots of sauce or seasoning.
All in all though, when I go to a restaurant I usually look for the pork entree so that’s what I voted for!
I love all kinds of meat (I’m most definitely a carnivore) but nothing beats a well cooked, tender steak!
Other- I am not a vegetarian but I actually like tofu and seitan better than I like meat. Not that I will turn down a well roasted chicken or high quality steak but I have an unnatural love for tofu that is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside which also takes like 5 minutes and costs under two bucks.
