We don’t do this (furbaby would never stand for it), but he does wear boots when we are hiking if it is muddy, cold, salty, wet, etc. In addition to protecting his precious paws, it also protects my precious car from wet, muddy puppy feet! I know some pets with short hair can benefit from coats in cold climates. I wish my little guy would wear one, lol. He thinks everything is food!
Do you dress up your pet? If so, please share a picture, lol.
*Please no mean comments…If you don’t understand furbaby love, just move on 🙂

our vet told us our dog should wear a coat in the winter time, but she HATES it. we only do it when it is absolutely frigid, horrible outside and she HAS to be outside for an extended period (i.e. to go poop!) and even then, we have to use a treat to coax her into it and she tried to nom our hands off. -_- poor beebs.

my doggie wears a jacket in th winter, he is 19 years old and has problems with the cold 🙂 he doesn’t mind it.

He will wear his hoodie from time to time when it’s chilly.

we have an enormous, slobbery bloodhound. My fiance tried to dress him up once, and this massive creature with his droopy face just looked so pathetic! You could tell the dog wanted to murder us too…
In order to help with some of the stress I’ve been feeling related to this dog being very messy and me being a neat freak and us trying to sell our house, my fiance just bought me a “neato” vacuum yesterday (like a roomba, but supposedly with better reviews). Today, he is on a quest to find our cat a shark costume, so he can do this:
The cat is going to try to murder us in our sleep…

Yep. He gets a Halloween costume each year for his birthday (we do a charity walk for the local SPCA and he wears his costume and loves all of the attention.) Plus, he wears a bandana pretty much everyday. He acts pitiful when we take it off to wash it.

When he hates a costume, I take it off and get rid of it. But usually he starts bouncing around the house when I take out his costumes because he knows he’s going to go somewhere where people will pay attention to him and pet him. The bandana is more so people think he’s a nice dog; since he’s so big, people are sometimes afraid of him but when he wears his banadana everyone says “look at the nice doggy with the bandana! Can I pet him?” Which Brutus loves.

@BoxerLady: I do…but not out of fashion related need…our greyhound has less than 2% body fat so in the winter, he’s cold. I cut the neck out of one of Mr. 99’s old sweatshirts and he’ll cruise around in that. Wort, our Chihuahua is kind of in the same boat with just being tiny and unable to retain body heat….I was able to find two shirts that were actually small enough for him that didn’t say something lame like “Bitches Love Me” or make him look like a dinosaur or giraffe….just because he’s tiny doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve dignity people…

@beachbride1216: That is so adorable that he gets excited about his costumes! That’s a great point about the bandanas too- they do make a dog look more friendly!

Our one dog always wears something in the winter. She will sit around shivering and crying if we don’t put her under a blanket or give her one of her hoodies or sweaters. But because she lets us put clothes on her, we totally take advantage of that. She gets to goofiest halloween costumes we can find. Our other dog hates wearing clothes, but sometimes we’ll put an old t-shirt on him just to annoy him.
This is a picture of her looking very sad becuase I made her go outside when it was cold instead of letting her poop on the floor.
And this is her dressed up as a squirrel.

@ferdie224: The mental image of your poor, sad bloodhound made me lol. My boxer has a sad, droopy face too, so when we do something he doesn’t like, it just looks so pitiful. It’s amazing how much judgement they can pass at you in those sad eyes, lol.
@beachbride1216: Yes! These are exactly the adorable pictures I wanted. I love the Halloween costume! And he looks so HAPPY. My dog would either try to eat it, or try to eat me.

Yes, during football season she has an NFL jersey she wears and for halloween we dressed her in a football referee costume and she was the “Rufferee”. And yes, she hates them both and the last about 5 minutes before she manages to rip them off. She also has a orange vest she wears during the fall/winter (hunting) season.

@beachbride1216: That is sooooo cool!
Our cat hates to even wear her colar…even though she is so pretty with it on. At Petco once they gave us antler ears and kitty didn’t like that at all…

Just coats/boots for the smallest dog (he doesn’t have a lot of hair and it gets cold) and sometimes a sweater for the hairless cat (he really needs it but he hates it and knows how to take it off, so usually we just keep an electric blanket on for him). I also have a little sombrero and yarmulke for them, but those are just for fun and only for pictures really.

@Nona99: lol, that’s so cute. What an adorable pair those two must make. Do they get along?
@Kit_Kath: lol at the squirrel picture. I really want a Halloween costume for my little guy now!
